997 gt street project 750 (need advice building the monster)

just recieved my techart gt street yesterday, have not done any engine work cuz techart aren't engine specialists. also would like to reduce weight massively and have many ideas on how to achieve this.

weight savings

carbon fiber doors
carbon fiber roof
carbon fiber bonnet (chairs gt3)
carbon fiber rollcage
titanium suspension
titanium exhaust
macrolon windows + gt3 rear wind screen
dymag rims (20's)
already equipped with ceramic brakes

engine mods
werk 1 airbox
ipd plenum
titanium exhaust
awe or evo 700 turbochargers
titanium pistons and rods
ceramic or heat treating components
bigger (preferably lighter) intercooler
3.8 litre capacity increase
ecu recalibration
sachs stage 2 racin clutch
lightweight aluminium flywheel
gear ratios altered for better 1st and 2nd gear performance + longer 6th gear

this is amassive job whith many potential problems as do not wish to compromise drivability. however i think that the end result would be worth it.
any advice would be appreciated. photos coming soon... as soon as i get my camera out. will keep development pics.

first time blogging or doing a big project so need all the help i can get
any fors

Sounds like an exciting project!

Let me make a comment. As much as I would like to earn your business, I don't think we are the tuner for you.

Our kit (primarily software) is based on stock internals. Installing our kit with a displacement increase is not recommended since we have not tested that set up.

Personally, I don't see the need for those items, but if that is what you want, you may have to look elsewhere. If you opt to not install those components, please keep us in mind. I think it would be exicting to have our kit on such a highly modded and lightweight car.

If you want to save weight, a Titanium exhaust would not be the route I would go. I recommend a simple straight through exhaust, to eliminate cats and mufflers to save weight.

good advice, will cosider it as a cost saving method. however why not have a titanium straight exhaust in that case?

furthermore would titanium be a good product for the manifold??
with treatment and a decent titanium alloy would the manifold still crack due to fluctuating temps????

furthermore 9ff claim to have 3 extra cooling methods in our negotiation. one includes water injected into the intercooler, if i can cool the engine efficiently i'll design a fiberglass underbody and cover the hole at the bottom of the car to minimise drag and incresa aerodynamic efficiency. i have also cosidered cutting the roof like the hamann car and redesigning the rear wing for effective drag reduction. the techart body kit decreases drag and increases downforce strangely enough as well as increases cooling by the wider front grill and exposed radiators.

has anyone heard of a pulley kit for the 997tt ??

plz respond need all the help i can get.

Titanium vs stainless straight through wont offer much weight savings, maybe a couple pounds. You would be better off removing rear seats. Titanium is a great product for anything that needs high strength, heat handling, or light weight. Great for exhaust manifold, high production cost.

Water/methanol injection is a great way to keep temps under control, and you can increase the boost that way. Unless you are designing the car for racing, or you just want something very unique, a flat undertray isnt really necessary. If you go that route though, a stainless steel plate would work just fine.

sounds like a great project and this is just very close to what you're going to do but alot cheaper and faster for finish

http://www.gtcars.ca/online/porsche-...e-rt-12-a.html

1-carrera body wil lalways be lighter than a turbo and you can get any body part in carbon and some of the RT12 are already carbon fiber.
2- rt12 650 comes with a 3.8L engine and bigger turbos
3-echaust is already light
4- Top speed more than 219 mph (subject to gear ratios / engine output choice) so you can have any gear ratios you want.
5-you can get the carbon seats like the gt3's
6- its a RUF and it will be warranted.

already am removing the rear seats to install carbon fiber roll cage. thanks for the advice on the steel plate howeger i was thinking about a diffuser like on the carrera gt or f430 etc.... the techart rar bumper has a slope to channel the air i ws thinking of designing an underbody and chose fiber glass to allow for easy cheap design process plus its easy to replicate in case of damage. remember if we cut the roof, lower the wing and flatten the bottom we should significantly lower drag. the standard turbo produces twice as much high speed drag as the mclaren f1. thats why they have diffuculty passing 200mph and u need a lot of horsepower to push the car through a wall of air.

Ruf using carbon Kevlar which is even more expensive and lighter than the carbon fiber

I would consider inconel for the headers far before titanium.

Just throwing it out there, the Inkonel exhaust system from RSC - Titan Series Exhaust weighs something like 20 pounds...

+1 on the quicksilver exhaust or the JIC full titanium

Not sure if money is no object, but it sounds like your willing to spend potentially several hundred thousand on the car and mods. In addition, your unconcerned with a back seat, but do want daily drivability. Maybe you can move up in the class of car ? All of us here love our TTs whether they are a Sunday driver or hammer their rides daily. However, the stock TT platform has its limitations. Why recreate the wheel when there are several manufacturers/tuners who have done the dirty work ? If you have serious money what about an RT12 or a finished 9FF TT ? If you have crazy money why not a Bugatti Veyron ? My pick would be the Bugatti hands down - its simply in a different league altogether !!!
