Still can't decide between P40 & RS171!

Guys I have been going back and forth on this for a couple of months now. HRE vs Champion, I just can't decide which wheel is better suited for the car. I have decided to go with a black wheel color. I'm slightly leaning towards the black RS171s, on the other hand HRE does not upcharge for black color...
Decisions, decisions...thoughts?

P40 is gonna be the preferred wheel here, and its my pick too.

Doug,
If you saw them side by side there would be no doubt in your mind at all. The 171's are so much cooler looking imo. They have a much more organic shape w/ a much deeper dive towards the center, have less spokes opening the wheel up, a much cleaner design & on top of all that are much easier to clean. But the cleaning part I didnt realize till later, I bought the 171's over the 40's soley on looks, well slightly less weight didnt hurt either but almost all on looks. Get the 171's you wont look back. But you cant go wrong really w/ either wheel, the 40's were definitely a close 2nd for me. My horrible photgraphy doesn't do the wheel justice, the curves of the spokes are much more dramatic in person. GOOD LUCK for whichever one you decide they're both great choices.

Gregg, those 171s look great!
Here's the thing. I can get a decent deal on either wheel here in town but painting is the issue. Worst case I'll get the 171s painted locally, although it would be nice to avoid that extra hassle and get it done by Champion. Unless of course I could get a smokin deal on one of the wheels that would make it a lot easier

Gregg's 171's are the best looking gloss black wheels in my opinion. I have black GT3RS wheels on my TT and would change to the 171's in a heartbeat if I didn't already have the OEM TT wheels too. However having said that I do like the 40's with the textured matte black finish - too many choices even narrowed down to two - whichever, they'll look great on your car.

I wouldn't "paint" IMHO... that always ends up chipping. I'd powder-coat since it's a much more durable finish.

Alex, for some reason Champion doesn't recommend powder coating of their wheels. I am worried about chipping as well.

They dont recommend it, because if a shop p'coats at too high of a temp it will damage the integrity of the aluminum.

However, if done right you are a-ok.
