Qs997Turbo is infamous around these parts
Champion Springs

My buddy and I put the Champion springs on my 997 turbo this weekend over at his shop. After 6 hours of hard labor (including an alignment), I was pretty disappointed by the results. The car did not appear much lower than stock definitely not the 1.2 inches that Champion is advertising. It was my mistake not to take measurements prior to putting the aftermarket springs on.

Visually it does not look much lower than stock.

Is this representative of what you guys have experienced with lowering springs? Are Champion springs the way to go? Thanks!

Takes a couple of days for the springs to settle, but most people measure 26" and some change at the mid fenderwell f/r.
My car with gmg's sits at 26.5 f/r.

From my personal experience springs installed on Mustangs, Evo's, M3's and my 997TT did not 'settle'. The drop you see should be the drop you get. Otherwise you will need it aligned all over again after the 'settling'. I could be wrong but have not seen it personally on a variety of platforms.

Very happy with my GMG spring drop and ride.

Thumbs up Spring's

I almost went with H&R's

No more bounce , Firmer and better ride quality..

The stock was floaty and seemed not as planted at high speeds

The GMG springs with sways are the best combination for me...

20mm drop was enough...

I have the Champion /H&R springs. I can tell you there is definitely a solid 1" drop all around. My front is 26" and the rear is at 26.5", measured at the midpoint of fenderwell to the ground. There is a noticable handling difference, especially on high speed transitions, there is less bounce- no more pogo effect. Normal mode feels the same as stock and sport mode feels a bit stiffer.
The springs are a two edged sword. The car looks much better and performs better. But the car also scrapes more too on the front. It scraped a lot before the springs and it scrapes even more now. I would not want the car any lower.

It should settle/drop overnight. After a day it should not change much more.

Are you guys really happy with the champion springs? I had them on my 996TT and they felt terrible.

The car looked great but the ride was very rough. My 997TT is staying stock.

The springs must be completely different on the 997 platform. I too had heard the bad reviews about spring jobs on the 996. Then I started hearing good reviews from reliable sources (ECLOU and others), plus the Excellence article solidfied my decision to give 'em a try. It also helped that I got a smokin deal on them, so why not?
