Last night at the drag strip
good numbers , o i've heard rumors thats allot of people are accusing there's some thing wrong in bahrain international drag strip , so what @ least u have one we still dont in kuwait
plus <!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) -->Divexxtreme
was just clearfying some thing to some guys it didnt worth all the upset and anger ehehhe
cool down khalil <!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) -->Divexxtreme will send u a drift box so he'll be sure of the aqurate numbers
<!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) -->Divexxtreme nothing comes free :P i've heard thats in bahrain drag they're getting better numbers maybe because it's under the sea leavle it's physics and gravity im not sure !<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
khalil and 3amer thanks for the post

As you said, I was trying to clarify the differences, but mostly because the trap speed seems way off. Here's why:
I know the 996 RUF 590 went 11.5 @ 126 here in the US and that car makes more power (is supposed to anyway) and weighs less than a RUF 997 550. 126 mph trap is also right where a 600 HP should be. The RT-12 went 133 and that car makes 700 HP...again, right where it should be. But a 132 mph trap out of a full weight 550 seems way off to me. Are we to really believe a RUF 550 is as fast as RUF RT-12? I'm sorry...but to me, that's like believing a stock, production version GT-R really ran a 7:29 around the 'ring.
Anyway, 60-130 numbers would tell the whole story.

the car has GT2 seats and we were running VP103 fuel... and the car has been tuned with an agressive map mainly for race fuel.
why is it so hard to believe? i raced modded Z06 and beat them thats street racing rolling 40 all the way to top speed? the Z06's were all making 490whp+... now does it make sense??????
we are the dealers for RUF in Bahrain, therefore we know what each car is capable of, RT12 etc.....
just to add ran my GTR and it ran 11.4 now how is that possible? maybe are times are faulty to.....
like i said will run it again this week and will make sure it runs faster and will post both video and timeslip.
just to add the ruf 550 only runs 1.0bar
GT-R 11.4 @ what mph??
A 490 whp Z06 is certainly capable of very high 120's if not 130+. I had no idea Bahrain was below sea level adjusted altitude already.
550 hp is certainly not the crank hp if it's trapping 132 moh, unless you stripped the interior. 550 whp and we would be on to something. How about a dyno on the race fuel to see what the car is actually making???

Actually, according to RUF, they both make the same power:
997: http://www.rufautocenter.com/conversions/997_Turbo.asp
996: http://www.rufautocenter.com/conversions/996Turbo.asp
The 996 weighs less than the 997 so with the same power, it will be slightly faster. The VTG turbos help the launch, but not the trap speed. That's a fact.
That doesn't mean anything. For all I know the Z06 driver's can't drive the cars well.
If that's true than you should have known the cars make the same power as the links above show...but apparently that's not the case here.
If the car is actually making in the 650 crank HP range, from extra modifications on top the 550 package, then I absolutely believe the trap is possible. But if you are claiming it only makes 550 crank HP and trapped 132 than the measuring equipment at the track is wrong. It's one or the other.
I agree that a dyno would be nice.
1.0 BAR at 550 HP and trapping 132. Right.
997: http://www.rufautocenter.com/conversions/997_Turbo.asp

#2 the 996 is not faster not even the 590 package....

DIVEXXTREME is totally right! when better your 60feet slower you MPH...
so your worst runs always will trap a higher SPEED(worst because you spin to much and did a bad 60 feet)
just an example, lets imagine two cars,ONE 4WD, THE OTHER FWD , from rolls they are dead EVEN... i mean they have the same acceleration.
if you put both at the track(1/4 mile) the 4WD will be, lets imagine a second faster(because traction) BUT the FWD will do a HIGHER trap speed!
it doesnt mean, the FWD was coming to pass the 4WD, it means the FWD lost time in the launch and at the end it will have "more space" to accelerate.
its hard to explain but thats the way things work!
AND now talking about the 132 mph... ITS too much for a 550 RUF... something strange over there...

maybe its one of those lucky fast cars

to be honest with you guys we ran the car and thats what it ran, sorry next time ill make sure it will run slower so you can be happy.
FYI, we drive really good here and the guy driving the Z06 is a very good driver.....
i own a very fast Zo6 and maybe you have seen pics of it in the corette forum my car na is making 580rwhp with 520tq. if you want to see the car this is the link.

whether the track reads correct wrong or whatever that what it ran i i wanted to share it.
you dont need to get upset just because a 550 hp car ran that trap? maybe the car is making more and RUF claim 550....
stock z06's trap 130 sometimes

Have a good one.
then we should sue the company that sold them the tree and time board?????
the car is fast, thats my point.... just to inform you i raced my brother in the RT12 vs the Z06 and thats top speed run and the Z06 is faster, now is that impossible to????? we are RUF dealer here and have invested millions into the facility, i wouldnt want to make the RT12 look bad......
Patt Musi, US Army team, extreme, boost logic (supra's) all these cars are beeing run here with the whole team and crew and the timmings are exactly like the states.....
FYI we are at sea level....
I really don't understand people who go through denial, I mean I ran my car on the drag strip & post my number's & the time slip, & ppl still make up excuses, why?
Ok Scott, you own a fast car, but a faster car come along, you cannot be the fastest for ever.
Here in Bahrain, we have a lot of talented drivers, so you cannot say that because of the Z06's driver that I passed a Z06's, they are fast don't get me wrong but not as fast as my RUF550.<!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- google_ad_section_end -->

I dont think one trap speed from one car can be a lithmus for all of the cars. Modded cars have varying ranges of results, especially when driven by mags who arent exactly pros. 600 hp at sea level should be faster than 126 mph when a stock TT will be over 120 mph in those conditions with 480 hp.
But 550 hp isnt enough, unless it's whp hp, at sea level. Obviously ruf doesnt measure it's hp ratings on race gas, so a race gas tune could obviously have given him a significant power boost and there could be other small tweaks that arent part of the base package that he has as well.
The jist of is that his car has more power than a 550 and is running at sea level, a luxury that the ruf's that have run in the US have not had. So even if the trap gadgets are different, it's still easily a 128+ mph capable car even here.
That being said 1.0 bar is VERY fishy. That's the only thing not adding up to me.
