MD Car Insurance Risk Categories - 997 Turbo

The highest number is 26.

The Porsche 997 TT is rated as 22, so is the Porsche GT2, Nissan GTR, Ferrari 430 and Lamborghini Gallardo.

So my question is, what contitutes risk categories 23, 24, 25 and 26? The Bugatti Veyron must be there somewhere, as is the Ferrari Enzo? Street-legal track cars? T1?

Any ideas?

It may actually be cars like a Viper . 997tt's can attract anyone from a suit and tie exec to a track racer .

I'm at the point with my insurance where I notified them of each upgrade and now the underwiters contact me personally to update the info . I have no idea what number I qualify as but I never really paid much attention to labels.

OP... interesting, but do you think it can be related to # of claims per vehicle? Yes the 997tt is a very powerful car, but do people really wreck them as frequenty as average cars, or do they get stolen as frequently as escalades?

yrralis1: You notifiy your underwriter of each upgrade? That's interesting, does that mean your coverage and premium goes up each time? Also, does that mean that people who don't do what you are doing (other modders) aren't covered on their aftermarket parts?

It goes up minimally and I have faxed the receipts to verify the work and placed them in contact with the tuners if they have questions. I don't know if they call or not .
I have exceeded the limit of coverage though . They only cover 30K worth of mods and I am more than double that .

My concern is not so much about replacement but rather about having proper liability coverage for an ultra high Hp car .

A 480 Hp (stock) car is very different than a 700 Hp car and I felt it was my responsibility to update and inform the insurance so that all my coverage is clearly defined .

you should consider an agreed value policy. almost double the price, but there are benefits especially if it is a highly modded car where standard national insurance companies will give you crap about covering in the event of loss, theft or damage......just a thought.....a fellow 6speeder sells this type of insurance so PM if you want his contact info.....

Funny thing with GEICO is my GT Mustang, Vette and Camaro (SS 320 HP) were more a year to insure than my P Turbo.

I called Geico and they said it about the stats on the car and your zip code.

Accidents, average drivers age that buy the car, thefts, tickets, etc of a specfic area are analzyed and rates are determined. I guess cost of replacement is not the prime factor.

I am not complaining since this car is very inexpensive to insure now with full coverage.
