997TT Mods (seats/rollbar)

Ok, after much research, it appears the factory GT3 RS roll bar CAN fit in a 997TT, but there are some concessions:
  • Very tight against the roof
  • Rear BOSE sub-box must be removed
  • Must drill into floor
Installing this factory part does ruin the point of the comfort of the 997TT.

Installing 997 GT2 seats (with airbags) are easy, and does NOT throw codes (we disconnected the battery). There are are some pros and cons:

Pros
  • Weight savings (stock 997TT seat weighs 66 lbs., GT2 seat is 37 lbs. each)
  • Cool looking
Cons
  • Seat does not tilt forward or back, does not go up/down (only slides forward and back)
  • Limits legroom (factory seat moves back further)
Hopefully this information helps someone thinking about the same modifications to their 97TT.

Completely agree and on TT's with a sunroof and bose I'd just use a bolt in roll bar instead.... It just isn't worth tearing the car apart for that;(

Some pics of the seats (installed) and the beautiful, factory GT3 RS roll bar (obviously, not installed).

We had it blasted and powdercoated white.

Anybody interested in a brand new, never installed, freshly powdercoated (white), factory GT3 RS roll bar? Customer decided to keep his BOSE rear subwoofer instead, and is not going to be installing this bar.

$2200 is list price, without the powdercoat change. We will also include a set of stainless floor brackets (which is not included with the bar from the factory, for some reason).

PM me for those that are interested.

Nice seats. They were advertised to be able to fold for rear seat access. Don't they?

Yes, they do fold foward for rear seat access. Then again, after seeing the size of the rear seats, it hardly seems worth the effort.

Cool seats, nonetheless.

The seats are firm, but according to the owner of the car, he liked them when he tried them in a GT2 (in a showroom).

I will ask the owner if he wants to sell the original seats (I doubt it).
