When does the 2010 TT with new engine and HP bump come and will mods still be avail?
no confirmation of any changes for 2010 yet. mods will be available, just a matter of time is all. but if they switch the motor we will have a new learning curve on what she will be able to handle.
Good discussion on the new DI engine for the Turbo over on Rennlist:
http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...-turbo.html#23
I would expect Tuners to work their magic as normal on the new 997.2 Turbo engine but I certainly wouldn't want to be an early adopter. The strength of the new engine is unproven and won;t be until Porsche start racing with it.
Then there's the PDK gearbox that currently can only handle 700Nm torque. A basic stage II modified 997.1 Turbo will be pushing at least 750Nm torque so the gearbox will need to be modified too for pretty much *any* aftermarket engine mods (even a high flow exhaust may take the 997.2 Turbo passed the 700Nm threshold).

The short answer is nobody knows.
I have been lurking here, at Rennlist and Renntech and there is no straight answer. Until there is an official press release from Porsche everything you read will be speculation.
Unless you are dying for PDK I would just get a current car. The GT1 (like others have said) is more than proven and there is plenty of room for more HP.
You should read what people were saying last year about the 09 models... its the exact same speculation. In its current iteration PDK does not appear ready for prime time. But Porsche has a few mules running aroudn hte track so who knows!

REALISTICALLY....No one has the answer...at all.
We dont know what they are doing.
Dealers don't know.
Call Porsche...they wont answer you.
Maybe they will keep the GT1?
Maybe improve PDK..version 2 with more capabilities.
Who knows.

I took delivery of my 09 in Oct at the factory. I wanted a GT1 block so I jumped for an 09.
During the tour I saw all the dfi engines for boxster,cayman/997 on one assembly line (actually 1 pair). Aske the guide about the GT1 engine. He said the GT1 engines were still be made in another part (older) of the factory. He said there production was going to cease soon, and then all the flat 6's would be made here in the main engine assembly. I said so no more GT1 engines for turbos, etc, he then said he couldn't comment on that.
Other slip of tongue was the fact that the new engines no longer get full "wet" tests, and are tested without gas, the GT1's still are loaded with fluids, gassed up and dynoed. He later made a comment about no more wet testing, as it wastes fuel, and they can learn more with the new dry testing.
Hope that helps a little.
