Hey Vic, no need for an apologies... It's all good...
BTW, your GTR is insane and IMO you have the best sounding/looking GTR around.
I have the mod bug for my GTR and I'm still contemplating... Switzer P700 or GT570 from SP.... decisions.. decisions...

Gregory

I raced my friends GTR with just a Cobb AP. That time my 996tt had just the EPL flash. I pulled on the GTR atleast 2 cars from 60 -120. As speeds got higher ...i started pulling away.

Let us know the outcome. Now with my k16/16g...the GTR was toast. Not even close esp after 100 i felt like he stopped.

Now my friends car has the HKS570...i am getting a Gt3071..will see. From a dig , i stand no chance agianst any GTR. They launch hard.

I was told that it would add about 15-20HP since it deletes the secondary cats.

I'm just having some difficulty visualizing a 20WHP difference creating a 3-4 car difference in such a short run.

Yes from 60-130 ish. Dont go from the dig...the GTR will destroy you.

It also felt like the GTR falls flat after 100 for some reason.

Well the Switzer gets you more power Im sure but you have to ship it out versus going down the street to SP. For HKS installs in the OC, SP is the best hands down.

I'm not interested in pissing competition and I sure didn't do the run to show GTR is faster than 997TT. I would've told you if I was running the Cobb . Like I said, I too was very surprised that the GTR with a mid-pipe was pulling away from 997TT . I seriously thought I uninstall the Cobb incorrectly or you're car wasn't making the power. Perhaps I should run with the Vic's 997TT to get some perspective. I haven't dynoed the car but my butt dyno tells me the car feels stronger with the mid-pipe and runs faster with mid-pipe and Cobb. Since we didn't have a chance to run with the Cobb, perhaps we can meet again to see how GTR with Cobb and mid-pipe stack up against stock 997TT. By the way, your TT is an awesome car and I will be picking one up in the near future once they come out with PDK.

Take care,
Gregory
Hey Greg, it was nice meeting you.

What can I say? Your car is a beast! No worries for the misunderstanding. I definitely want to see how much more you pull on me with the midpipe + cobb LOL. The 997 SHOULD be fine but I'm going to have it checked out sometime this week just in case. Problems or not, I'm pretty sure your GTR would still pull . I think next time we run though, I'm just going to leave it on drive and let it automatically shift. Not that it would change the outcome a whole lot but I think I would be able to hang on a little better.

I race both a GTR and a 997TT in my 86 Chevrolet truck with a 305 engine. Both of them beat me badly but I was uglier. The GTR almost beat me in ugliness, it was very very close--good thing I had those cool mudflaps!!!

Iam not surprised that lightly modded GTR won over a stock TT tip. Nissan aimed at 997TT when they built GTR. If race had gone beyond 130 it might have been closer. I think the TT needs a least a flash to reliably beat a stock GTR, since the cars are so close in hp and the quick shifting of the GTR offsets the weight difference.

Yeah I would have left it in auto and then shifted to 2nd or whatever gear and let the tranny up shift- manually shifting with a 997TT tip is a waste IMHO. The reaction between human input and the tranny takes forever. Hit me up when you are in the Anaheim Hills or Irvine area so we can run.

I agree, paddles in true autos (meaning non sequential) are useless.

The old saying is anything can happen on the street, that being said everything I have heard or seen has the 997 Turbo inching away above 100 mph and starting to pull ahead over 120 mph.
