997tt tip vs GTR
heres a vid from a run i had with a GTR. owner is a cool guy. this was a friendly run. i had a feeling he would win but not by this much
his car was stock besides having a mid-pipe but i dont think that gives much of a gain, does it?
all i have is a BMC filter. car has 18k miles. perhaps time for a spark plug change? not sure if that would help out much. maybe i have a boost leak? who knows. any feedback would be appreciated.
a 6 speed 997 would definitely give it more of a run then i did, thats for sure.

that makes the two of us. yup, i used overboost. all the little gadgets were set properly as well (sport button on, PCM off, etc.).
Nico I think a 6sp would be slower than the tip. From a roll, I never stood a chance... I could feel the double clutch gain on me every up shifts. To be fair, Nissan under claimed the HP ratings for the GTR as well.
from a roll the 6 speed will walk a tip. the tips advantage is nailing the power braked launch from a dead stop.
from higher speed rolls stock 6 speeds have inched away from GTR's with distances increasing as speeds increase over 120 mph. from a dead stop a launched GTR is going to beat a TT based on what Ive seen thus far.
From lower speed rolls the GTR might put a car length on ya - stock for stock - until you get into 4th having wasted lots of time shifting.

Also remember that even the best shifting 6 speed car will interrupt tractive force during shifts, and the GTR does not. A brake boosted Tip car would probably be the ticket against a GTR.

Thats what he told me. I'm starting to think if it would have been a little different outcome if I just left it on drive and just did the kickdown instead of manually shifting...
Honestly speaking, I really doubt the guy just had a mid pipe. Do you know him well? I mean if you just meet someone on the street, I don't really think he is going to tell you everything that he has. I think the ideal run is when you downshift in auto mode to the ideal gear and then floor it. So the car changes at the highest rpm every single time.

++++1 for that.Very true.Again we need a PDK to kill a GTR all the way from head to foot.
What was your psi- if it was stable at 1.1 or 1.2 then you dont have a leak. I have a tip 997TT also, we should run since Im local (Orange County) so you can get some perspective. And then we can run in my GT-R.
