hello guys
i have had my tt for about 10wks; 4wks of it was @ the dealer getting
mods (tubi exhaust system & GIAC). the car has 1950mis. yesterday
the "oil level low warning pops up on the display"; checked the electronic
dipstick and the last bar was flashing. is it normal to add oil @ this early
stage of ownership or should i be concerned? did not notice any leak.
i have not tracked the car though i do drive aggresive @ times (addicted
to the exhaust note!). should i just add the necessary amount or take the
car in for service? please advise? (should have bought the lambo! just kidding; but my patience is waning!)

A quart or so of oil in 2000 miles is good.

 

Buy a 6 pack and keep one in the trunk. Normal and should decrease as the mileage increases.

 

Absolutely - it will go through the oil but this will change quite a bit after you get 10K or so on it. I followed recommendations and had an oil change before the break in period expired. If you are an oil nut, try Blackstone labs for oil analysis re what's going on in your engine and how often you should be changing your oil factoring in your driving style and engine needs. From my oil analysis it appears (oil filter goes sooner than your oil life) I require a change about every 7K miles or so.

it's normal. Make sure you do proper cool downs (let her idle for 2-3 min before shutoff)

 

If not, just keep the revs low and slow before turning it off. I run mine just under 3Krpm for about 3 blocks or so. Ideally, the cool down for 2-3 minutes is excellent advice if you are driving it hard.
Oil is a big and important topic. Blackstone labs can tell you all you need for about $120 for 6 oil change sample analysis.
