I had my friend drive my Switzer 997 GT2 up the the Cleveland Cars and Coffee and i drove my 599GTB. After the meet, we decided to do a few highway rolls. We started from a 50 mph roll up to 160 mph. i was driving the 599GTB and my friend was driving the GT2 (first time my friend drove the GT2). I started in 2nd gear and he started in 3rd gear. We left on three honks. I initially jumped about half a car, then the next thing i know, the GT2 flew by me so fast i thought he had sucked the paint off my doors! Both cars were running on 93 octane pump gas. As i shifted into 3rd, 4th, and finally 5th gear, he had a good 8 to 10 cars on me and just continued to pull me. i just shut it down at 160 mph. That was only bad experience i had thus far while in my 599GTB. But i still got all the looks as we cruised around town, so all in all, it was still a good day. i will try to get it on video next time.

 

599 is a fast car...Raced 1 with my previous LP640,no chance after 100mph due the 599's RWD on wheel power..So you see.your GT2 is a true monster.Congras for that!

I just wanted to post that I am the "friend" that DK is referring to and man that GT2 with the Switzer 800 pump kit is RIDICULOUS! Its just the most perfect pump gas Porsche that is available inmho. I cannot wait for my 997TT to get this 800 package...I think with my TT's numerically taller gearing than the GT2, my 997TT might even be faster. Needless to say DK you are the man and thankyou for letting me drive your beast to the Cars and Coffee event. It was really nice to experience this car so I know what to expect until mine is done. Cheers! Just for the record, the 599GTB got more looks than the GT2 all day...that F car is so freaking hot.

Come on, you can't discuss these badass cars and not have pics of them to share. It is fun indeed racing against your own cars.

 

the 997 turbo is a few hundred pounds heavier, but the shorter gears allow the turbos to be at full boost during the entire 60 - 130 pull. i think the 997 turbo may possibly record a quicker 60 - 130 time. if not a tad quicker, definitely comparble. i guess we will see soon!
