Downpour + 911 turbo = CEL

I was cruising down the interstate and got hit by a downpour; threw a cel light maybe after 5 minutes in the rain. Something is odd here, when I got back home I dried her up w/ a leaf blower and the light vanished, should I take her in for a check up or is it normal?

I got caught last week in a downpour also, didn't get a CEL but the car felt a little sluggish and the belt was screeching during certain RPM range on accel. After the rain stopped the car drove fine and the screeching went away.

It seems like the location of the fan allows water to dump all over the belt and the air filter. Makes one wonder if these cars are meant to be driven/parked in the rain.

I've driven mine in two of the worst downpours I've ever been in. Flashers on, wipers in top setting, front and rear fog lamps blazing, going about 25. No issues at all. Indeed, one of the downpours featured hail...and I was on Pilot Sport Cups on the way to a PCA event! Seems odd that you would have that issue...perhaps take it to the dealer and see if the computer recorded a fault that the VAG tool can identify.

Never had a cel in the rain but would not doubt some type of engine issue in the recent rain season of this South Florida region . Belts will screech and I do everything possible to avoid rain but this last month has been an on and off faucet . You may want to get it checked out because a complete stall out in the rain on the interstate is not a good thing . These warning signs of potential rain issues are worth getting a check up. Good luck.

Been there, done that, no fun on old school cups. I've driven mine numerous times in torrential rain with the N rated cups no issues at all. The belts will screetch badly though.
Anthony, did you end up with the F-L flash?
I'm heading to pocono in a couple of weeks with pda, might see ya there!

Does one need to do anything to the belts after the car was in heavy rain?

I put my car in a touchfree carwash once..When I drive out I heard the alternator belt screaming for about 2 seconds then I get the battery charging power low warning from dash..After turn the engine off and restart it went all fine...
So never park the car outside very long in heavy rain. The engine lid leaking yes.

Perhaps checking the code on the CEL to see exactly what was wrong would help out a bit. For all you know, you could have some kind of electrical problem.

Any aftermarket suggestions?

Is there a better engineered lid from any of the aftermarket guys?? i noticed this issue the other day when i was washing my car. Water and Soap were all over the air Box area, you would think that Porsche would have a solution for this by now
