IIRC, W902 was just the addition of some grease on the VTG actuator rods on the turbos.

Nothing to be concerned about at all. Routine stuff...

Does it involve removing any part of the engine? And should I have the dealer perform it before I have it shipped or bring it to a dealer near me once I take delivery? (the delaer I am purchasing from will have to bring it to a porsche dealer near him).

Don't think it matters as long as there's documentation that the recall service was done. Are you/did you get a PPI at a dealership? That stuff should be taken care of during the inspection.

PPI----private party inspection?? Wasn't planning to. Car still has factory warranty and dealer is reputable. Am I being naive??

Not at all. There are little rods on the turbos for the actuators. They just need some additional lubricant to keep them from sticking. Takes just a few minutes....

Honestly, it does not matter where it is done. It's a TSB, so any dealer can do it.

Suppose you'll get different opinions on this, but I would get a PPI regardless of remaining warranty or 'reputable' dealer. IMO, all dealers are the same. Some may provide better customer service than others, but the bottom line is they're there to take your money.

As far as the PPI, car may have undisclosed damage, or damage the dealer supposedly was unaware of (think there was a recent thread on this??). Overrevs. Could be 100 type 5's which a dealer will never voluntarily disclose but will absolutely kill resale should the next buyer be a bit more savvy.

Just get one. Few hundred bucks for a little piece of mind.

wouldn't buy one with out a ppi. just inform them you want a DME readout at the end and some shop will also paint meter the car for previous paint work. bonehead is an expert at this so i would follow his instructions
