So I went to the dealership just to pick up some enthusiasm.. and so now I have an offer in on a silver 997TT 6 speed coupe.
We'll see.
Driving impressions; more refined, smooth, quiet etc. The boost builds in a more linear usable fashion, but I'm not sure it has the hell raising violence of the x50. That could be the butt meter being fooled by all that refinement.

I scored a 2007 Turbo in GT Silver with 1000 miles on it in July, 2009. The GT Silver is awesome. Wait until you see it with the bright sun on it. Paint looks very bright and wet, almost like melting silver. Got to see it to believe it. The GT Silver also ties in well with the aluminum trim pieces inside the interior as well as the stock Turbo wheels which are polished.
Best of luck with it, and be safe...this car is a road warrior!

Turbofal
I guess the two cars are completely different. The 997 is much more buttoned down, sorted out, cleaned up, civilized, etc. I like it, my wife likes it, the neighbours like it.
Its smooth and quiet .. and freaking fast.
The X50 felt insanely fast, loud and irresponsible. There is a ton of lag... then BAM! passengers would freak, onlookers would hide, the noise was insane (60mm 'quiet' exhaust). I would never guess that the 997tt is faster but numbers don't lie. Much of the X50 rush was theatrics, in some ways I'll miss that, but it gets old after a while and my wife hated it. The test was that we never took it on weekend jaunts. The 997t is being measured for coolers and luggage right now.
