s4awd@yahoo.com is on a distinguished road
I think people need look at the legs of these cars and not just the shoes their wearing. The 911 has a rear engine with a rear transaxle which works well if you know how to drive it. The GTR is a front engine AWD car with a rear transaxle with with a separate driveshaft (2 drive shafts!) that drives the front wheels with the gearbox in the middle. That's as balanced as you can get. A slightly heavier guy that has more balance can outrun and out play a lighter faster guy in any sport, basketball, football etc. As said in most reviews the overall speed of the car in terms of accelleration, top speed the GTR is lacking but it's abilites in the corners carrying more speed into and out of turns is it's strength. So on paper it doesn't add up but on the racetrack it shows. I think it just makes the best use of the tires and suspension than most cars. I'm sure the rock hard suspension helped also. The only other car that had a similar layout was the Ford RS2000.

That said, kudos to the Porsche engineers to basicly catch up to the GTR in one refresh with pdk and without any major changes to the transmission. This shows they had the right formula to work on from the get.

Have any of you guys actually been to a track to know anything about tires? I have yet to hear one of you talk about:

ACTUAL EXPERIENCE ON A TRACK!!!!!!!

Heavy, No one CARES what track you've been to. Imagine someone being dumb enough to believe what you're saying.

You are not an engineeer. The knowledge that goes into designing a tire specically for a car has ALOT more variables than compound. You trying to proclaim the Dunlops to be R-comps without the foggiest idea about their design is hillarious.

Just give it up HeavyExcuses.

It takes too much blind faith to go along with your conspiracy thoeries. The results are there in black and white. What you bring to the table is hearsay (aka hog wash)
