Yes, Just occurred to my 2007 TT while at the track. There are issues with the cam postioner. I contacted Michael Levitas at TPC Racing while at the track very helpful. You need to address it. My turned out to be a glitch and cleared which allowed me to get back on the track. Have you lost power? if so there is an immediate issue. Porsche has had issues

Just have the dealer change your cam timing position sensor. Seen it happen a few times before and it's a pretty easy warranty fix.

Not sure if our codes are linked to similar problems or not - but....

I got a CEL that read cam position actuator over bank 2 timing over advanced P0021. Check engine lights haunted me for 1.5 years until we figured out what was going wrong.

Had to take apart my motor to replace the bank 2 cam. The sleeve inside the cam shifted and was supposed to be welded or fused in place but somehow slipped blocking the oil passages responsible for triggering the cam to move back and forth from retard to advanced mode. The cam in my car was frozen in high power mode so I would only get into good HP numbers when I got my RPM up into the 5500 range or higher. Power would be really sluggish on the low end of the power band. The problem drove me nuts for a very long time until Mike at TPC experienced the same thing on one of his customer's cars. I worked with Protomotive and Prototech of Fort Lauderdale to get my problem solved once we spoke to Mike.

Havent had a problem since the cam was replaced (been 3/4 weeks now). Fingers are crossed.

Sounds like the problem I had, I had a P0021, dealer said the oil was getting blocked into the cam shaft, causing it to over heat and trip the sensor. replaced the CAM under warrantly. I wasn't sure about the longevity of the car after an issue like that. I have been running mine for about 10k miles since then. So far everything seems ok.

It seems I might have run into a similar problem with my 2007 997TT recently. Has anyone who replaced a camshaft in the past had the same issue again? I wonder if it is a one-time of or the problem may recur.

If replaced with the OEM parts, it can recur. Some choose to have the cams pinned.

Thanks. Given I am not alone, one really has to wonder why those sleeves are not attached in a more dependable way. It would be interesting to hear if the same solution is used on 991s.

Agreed. It was different on 996 TT. And 997.2 and 991 do not use the Mezger engine, so I suspect it is different. An unfortunate flaw with these engines...

Mine was replaced under warranty a couple of years ago. So far no issues. If it occurs again I would get them pinned. Hope not though, lol.
