997TT Cab (6MT) Differential question

Hi guys!

I have finally found a 997TT Cab that is speced appropriately! However, not completely. The only thing that it doesnt feature is the locking rear differential, this is the second fully speced car I come across that is missing the diff. I then started to look at a few other manual Cabs and they did not have it either. What do all the cab owners here have? Was it somehow only available on the coupe? I want a fully optioned car and just cannot live with the fact that the car isnt equipped with something, that could have been had (especially because it isnt an expensive option----> keeping in mind that this particular car actually takes its stopping power from an $8k brake system).

What if it was available, how expensive would it be to have it retrofitted by a porsche dealer? Or while I'm at it, how bloody important is it, and will I ever feel a difference? (yes I would very rarely track the car...and I'm sure you know that Switzerland has some of the best driving roads the world has to offer...)

Thanks so much in advance,
Yannick

A locking diff would benefit any vehicles handling and will help power you out of the corners.

I would contact Quaife, they have a torque biased diff available: 997 6-speed part#40.309.180

Option 220 is available on all 997 Turbos(manual). If you are seriously considering the upgrade we recommend Guard diffs, Matt is a sponsor here. They con be plated/ramped to your specific needs. Definitely a quality piece.

If you find the car you want and thats the only option missing I would not sweat it at all nor would I go looking to throw money at it in the aftermarket until you drive it, track it then walk away knowing you could in fact do with it.

Another option that you might want to explore would be the OS Giken differential. I think that you will be far happier with the results, especially from a durability point of view. These new differentials have a lot to offer and a price that I think you will be quite please with as well.

Feel free to give me a call if you have any questions, while these are out of stock at the moment, we are expecting to receive a new batch quite soon.

Happy to help,

Erik Johnson

Thanks guys. We appreciate the support. We've got 4 options for the TT in stock and ready to ship. It all depends on one's budget and application.
