Your thoughts on two cars I am considering

#1!!
Tiptronic is faster and more consistent After the E39 M5 and embarassing experiences with it, I have always gone for the automatic. Just mash it and go.
I have to say that this aut vs manual conversation is dependant on place of residence. Here in Finalnd all cars are manual, so we take automatics as something luxury and special. I susoect in the US it is exactly the opposite...
Doesnt matter which way you go, you will be happy.

6 speed car in a second. Tips, no matter how 'fast' they are, will always be harder to resell. Now with the pdk, they really are the red headed step child in the porsche family.

Thanks everyone! I decided to go with ... #2. Given that I won't be driving this car daily, I think I will prefer the "excitement" and perhaps learning curve associated with driving a manual. This is my first Porsche so I am sure I will need time to get used to the stick after driving a Viper for few years...
I think the deciding factor, other than low milege, was concern I have with PDK affecting the resale of Tiprtonics in the future.
Again, thank you all and look forward to contributing more to the forum as soon as I get the car.

Different strokes. After rowing my own gears for some time, I think the 997 Turbo I buy will be a Tip. I doubt I will track this car when I get it, and the luxury of not having to do the 1 gear 2 gear dance through rush hour traffic while trying to drink coffee will outweigh the transient longing to double clutch.

It really is "to each his own". Buying a car because of what the folks here say you should is ridiculous. It is your vehicle, your $$$...tip or 6sp. it comes down to what you want, you are not buying it for the next owner. I just saw a tip 2008 on the Riverside Manheim with like 14k miles for for over 94k (wholesale!) So saying that tips are harder so sell matter of opinion.....Someone must buy them. If you CPO car#2, it will likely cost and extra $2k so it becomes a $95k car. Important to you or not??? Just something to consider. Also if you plan on modding it you can mod the hell out of a tip without any clutch issues or having the added expense of a clutch upgrade. All just food for thought. Good luck with you decision and enjoy in good health!

I received your PM but couldn’t post my response because I do not have 15 posts… Nonetheless… Congrats on whichever decision you make… I will reiterate though because I cannot post the lengthy response… drive both versions and then make a decision…
