PDK question

Hi,
In manual mode, is it possible to downshift at any RPM to any gear and cause over rev?
In manual mode, going up to the red line, does it shift to the higher gear on its own or it will stay at the red line?
Many Thanks!

No, the computer will not allow the transmission to "down shift over rev"
Regarding the up shift, there were a few instances where I hit the rev limit and I had to manually shift.

Kosmo69- I mean Mechanical over revs.
Using a standard transmition, mechanical over revs are possible, and i love those hard downshifts to make that engine sing.........

As already stated --the car can not downshidt over rev . In fact when I first got my car I accidentally hit the PDK button the wrong way but the computer ignored my request which thus prevented a money shift . In my opinion that makes the PDK so valuable in terms of engine preservation.

Upon acceleration what I have found is that car will hit the rev limiter but will not over rev . Instead it seems ro go into this state of fuel cutoff limbo waiting until I shifted the car.

when you guys are at a red light, do you just leave it in drive like an automatic? i know on F1 trannys, you'd put it in Neutral to save clutch wear.

Hi,
just one more question,
What is the maximum RPM in manual mode during the lowest possible downshift?
Does it downshift close to the red line, or at maximum torque RPM?
I am just trying to find out how far the PDk allows the driver to force the car to be driven hard, specially during downshifting at manual mode.
