Best bang for the buck mods on a 997.1 TT opinons wanted

Hey guys

I was ready to buy a 997.2 Carrera 2, and the talked about mod was the AWE cats for $1500 as the best bang for the buck mod for exhausts. The car is an 09 and has me tapped a bit, I was wondering if there are any such mods recommended for the .1 TT.

I think the B&M short shifter is a good one, and seems very reasonably priced for the performance. Are there other mods, or exhaust mods in this theme? Thanks

Short shifter is always a good choice. Have it in the TT and my Mini (the DD).
As far as exhaust mods, virtually any aftermarket offering will be better than the stock mufflers. Seems that aftermarket headers do little if anything to improve upon the stock configuration. Probably one of the single most priciest mods you can do for the TT, but weight savings, power gains, and improved sound make it a worthwhile investment, IMO.

best HP gain per dollar spent is an ECU flash.

I just picked up my turbo from Evolution Motorsports in Tempe after having its ECU tune (EVT550/570R)...OMG!!!!!!! My 997 turbo is smoother & faster than my friend's 997 GT2 (stock). This has to be the best "bag for your buck" mod around! Ian took great care of me and I met Todd Zuccone - both good people. You owe it to yourself to look further into this and other mods at EVOMS.

I would start with springs or coilovers, sways, drop links get familiar with the power you already have then get into power adders.

I wasn't necessarily looking to add any power, just wondering what the low hanging fruit was for all mods. A B&M short shifter seems an excellent mod high with the smiles to $. I've been out of the P-car arena for a while, my last Porsche was an 84 Carrera with a protomotive turbo, I was wondering what the best stuff was for tinkerers like myself

best mod hp for the $ would be a tune, but i would do exhaust first since you get so much more power with exhaust+tune then tune alone. ssk is mod? i thought it was standard on all sport cars

One of the things I wanted almost immediately was to diminish the Turbo lag . An ecu tune and exhaust would cover it but I also added intake and intercoolers. The suspension was very squishy . I chose Techart springs at first and then moved on to Bilsteins and love them.

I feel the biggest dramatic change for my car was the improvement with the Evoms Turbos . One might think that "a turbo is a turbo " but that is not so. I found that the modified Turbos provided a smoother and more linear acceleration . The car felt more the way it should have been .

Now I did a lot more to my car to improve it so you may choose to do yours in steps .

My car has been completed for a year (time flys) and I don't usually come to the 997Turbo section lately because i actually am that happy with it that i am not looking to add to it.

Instead I am on this recent tangent with my new PDK 997S which I use daily . The goal of the PDK car was to preserve the Turbo . I love my modded Turbo so much that it is a special occasion car that i hope to keep very long term.

I am that impressed by the guys at Evoms who designed the system as well as the skilled technicians who installed it and spent days and many hours making my car what I has always dreamed of .

The memories are still there... every time I drive it.
