Escort 9500c1

I have had mine since they first came out and find this a great product. I also had fantastic after-service support when I ran into a problem.

You get regular software and camera location updates (emailed to you) and you can easily turn off (or on, or on hwy mode, etc.) the jammer when in States where it is illegal. I personally wouldn't want to risk being caught with the jammer on in CA. The police already have a thing for our cars - and from my experience the CA state police (and others) like to target us. Even with the jammer off you usually get warnings to slow down (if you are ever speeding, which I know is unlikely ). It's stealth in appearance which is also another bonus. Very few false alarms - so when you hear it you slow down!

Escort 9500ci interior install photos

Here are two photos of where I had the two components installed. You don't tend to use the display often so I had it put inside the glove box (and to save space). The options. mute, etc. little console is well suited for where I had it installed (ideas all borrowed from Greta--) and easy to reach. You need to leave a bit of space on the top as that's where the on-off button is.

I hope this helps. If you get one make sure you have it installed by an expert. If you want to know how to update the unit using the email update notices let me know.

Good luck.
K.

Cost

If I recall correctly (and at my age this is a big IF) it was about $2K CDN by a Escort recommended shop. It's not cheap but it's Escorts top-of-line product and with continual updates (about 2 a month) you are always current. Well worth the investment - if you budget allows.
You basically have one thin black bar above your rear license plate and two other in the grill up front - hardly notice them unless you are up close and looking for them.

Big job

It's a bit of a job with lots of wiring issues to deal with, for sure. While I can't speak too highly of this product, I would suggest you double-up with two items:

1. Extra speaker under the dash (if you like your tunes you may not hear the alert or voice - the latter informs you of camera locations as you approach them, controlling for your speed), and type of alert if you want this option which sometimes lets you look for the source of the alarm.
2. Silicone the seals on the external front and rear jammers to offer extra protection against possible moisture issues if you are driving in extreme climates (like Canada!). This is a minor "possible" issue and easily managed with the silicone.

only buy the Passport 9500 if you have to have the convenience of radar detector and laser shifter built into one unit, otherwise wiser to have seperate radar unit and shifter as LI and Blinder performs much better than the Passport shifter...independent tests have confirmed this multiple times...you have to go to the shifter forums and ask people which lasers your state uses for the most part and look at the tests and see if your shifter tests well against it...that is the best way to protect yourself...I have Passport version but wish I didnt.

Another thing you can do after install is top test it yourself by buying a laser pulse gun on ebay(they are pretty cheap) and test it on your car to verify for yourself its working.

I posted a link earlier on this thread to the best shifter and radar forum out there.
