My friend recently got a message on his car car stating :

Check the sensor. I had the same problem and it was from the sensor of the fan. Replacing the sensor first can save u $200 (Fan price).

There is also a relay(s) that could have failed. My fan was replaced, same message came back....then the relay was replaced.

I just had this same message come on today. I need to do a 200 mile highway drive tomorrow. Any idea if it's safe to drive it with this warning on?

You should be fine. I just had this problem and it took the dealer time to sort the fix out. Keep your eye on the gauges and you will see the oil and water temp stays the same. If you stop and its hot out just pop the rear bootlid so it let the hot air out of the engine compartment.
