Absolutely. More importantly, as you say, it's the opinion of **one** professional racing group. There are other professional racers, like Walter Rohrl and the engineers at Porsche, who probably feel differently.

Really, I am not trying to convince you or anyone to change his mind, as we and Casey/TPC all agree it's a matter of personal preference. I just want to bring the point across that this is a mod that until you try for yourself, you won't know. TPC is an outstanding input, but it's just one input. I myself am surprised by how much it has changed the feel of the car and definitely think it's worth trying.

BTW, the most valid and applicable poll would be to ask those who have had both whether he would order it on his next car.

+1 with Cannga on this one. My car came with the stock shifter and after installation of the SSK, I was amazed at the difference in feel. One of the better mods I have done. By the way, I have the complete stock shifter if anyone is interested.

Fair points. I need to try one. Since I'm stuck in traffic too much, I'm skeptical, but I'll try.

An update from my dealer: apparently you can go back. They simply need to get a larger plate. They said shouldn't be a problem. However, I think I will wait on the change and continue driving the car as is for a while longer. See if it grows on me.

Sure. I try to be a careful person and don't make off the cuff remarks, and here is my opinion and preliminary report: You are in for a big and pleasant surprise if you are the type who likes an aggressive and sporty feel in your car. Besides all the physical changes that have been described, there is a subjective change in the car character as well and I love it.

I can't explain why and I am surprised myself: the short shifter gives the car much more of a "bad boy" character. It strangely seems to make me want to drive the car more aggressively. I am, actually, in love.

I had the OEM SSK put on my car after I purchased it used. I personally love it. I live in TX so the issues with the cold-start difficulty are generally non-existent.

From what I understand, you can easily switch back to the regular shift kit if you want.
