that's my Z06. i wish i knew what power i was making to be honest. it has a K&N intake, American Racing headers, and a Corsa exhaust with race cats. critically, it does NOT have an ECU tune, and the guys over on the 'Vette forums say that while i should be making more power than stock, if i had a tune, it would be even stronger.

So after the run against the GT2, we decided on trying the race with a higher launch speed (roughly 80 mph / 130kmh) at the end of the race at around 250kmh, the Z06 was ahead by about 1/2 a car or so.
oh, so you're here finally

yeah, i wasn't expecting to manage that slightest of wins, but there you go! but does go to show what an incredible all-rounder the Turbo PDK is. it was a very specific set of conditions that allowed the 'Vette to pull that off. in the real world, you don't usually have ideal conditions.

one more thing, the 'Vette runs out of urge in 5th gear, because that's already overdrive for it. we got off the gas right at the top of 4th. I'm almost sure that if we had kept at it and i shifted into 5th, your car would have sailed past me.

seems the 'Vette was geared for more "sane" high speeds in that sense.

of course i'm not sure, but this is my theory.

So from the preponderance of the evidence it would seem to indicate that the PDK Turbo is fast?

Will there be a 997.2 GT2? If so Im very afraid of what that will be like if the 997.2 Turbo's are this ridiculous. Want to see this 997.2 Turbo vs the Gallardo 560-4. That would be epic. I think Id give the Porsche the edge after seeing this vid.

The Z06 does indeed run out of steam once into 5th gear. It pulls like a freight train all the way through 4th, then once you shift into 5th the acceleration seems pathetic (although I have hit 200mph with it before).

I am starting to think that maybe a 997.2 Turbo PDK with an ECU flash and very minor mods like filters is the ultimate daily driver. I think with these basic mods, you can drive it back and forth to work, go out to dinner and even let the wife drive it if she's in the mood, and hit ten seconds on the quarter mile (on the street, not like the Z06 where you need a track to extract it's potential). Bone stock this thing is wicked. The more seat time I get in it, the more I find it to just be perfect.

Evoms already have tune and a few bolt-ons for the 997.2TT PDK.
Amazing car in stock form.

The Z06 should be putting out around 40 crank hp more than a stock Z06. The intake and headers were definitely good for some nice hp. A tune would complete the car though. My Z06 with basic Vararam intake, kooks headers, stock exhaust, and a tune put out 500rwhp on the dyno. He does not have a tune so it should be less (maybe 470ish rwhp?)

From what I've read on these forums, a few dynos have shown the 997.2TT PDK bone stock at close to 500awhp so this would completely make sense.

not sure about the power of the Z06... probably more like 30 HP over stock, based on what i've read? there are many more knowledgeable guys on here than i about this car... i think anything more than 20 HP, i'd need the tune, which as mentioned the car doesn't have...

i'm not sure what RPM he was at, but i think it was a 2nd gear roll from around 80 kmh. maybe should have started at higher speed to keep revs up

The Turbo S has no physical engine changes over non-S, just a tune that runs in overboost all the time. So if your previous tests were done in overboost mode on the stock Turbo then the results should be the same.

I'm not sure why anyone would pay extra for the Turbo S (other than lack of availability of non S allocations) as I'm sure EVOMS and others will produce a better tune for less than the $30K badge.

ok i didn't realize that! credit Porsche and their marketing machine. i just assumed they were offering GT2 levels of power with the DFI and PDK... but yeah, this does make sense (from Porsche's POV)

The Z06 is indeed a beast. I was in my friend/neighbour's car when it was stock and it was like a rocket. He's got headers/exhaust/intake and ECU. Guess I shouldn't try to race him in my 997.1tt, at least not until some mods have been done!

Greeeeat.........It would be great to see it against a ZR1 and a Gen IV Viper as well. It would be a knock down drag out fight.
