Drifting 997 TT
Drifting 997 TT
997 TT has lots of traction, with stock power.
turned of PSM.
tried to oversteer during 90 degree turns, and yes 997 TT does oversteer. But can not drift. After a short while, the car stabilizes again.
How do you guys drift, or at least roll the 997 TT so that the nose is heading towards the barriers?
do I need a rainy surface to keep on drifting?

What are you doing?....you cant possibly be trying hard enough (hehe). I got mine in a tail out drift only 2 days ago on a sharp 90 deg right hander. Leave psm ON! put in SC mode as that softens up the psm but still gives a safety net. Just go in fast enough, and hit brake very hard/late, feel that trail brake effect as the tail comes loose and whoa..balance the throttle... once on the apex point, full power down and hang on.... but be careful... you will def need some opp lock and the 4wd really works great here on the way out drift. Make sure there is plenty of road and no trees tho in case you lose the rear into something. Youre really best to get it sorted on a track first imo and its more fun and no things to hit if things go pear shaped. The 911 is way different to the bimmers.

.Turn psm off like you were and you basically just have to pin the throttle but if you can drift normally you can drift the TT. I know I can
Its actually a great recommendation if hes not very familiar or has not been trained with the handling characteristics of a 911 at high speed on a track so why make fun of that? As you should know theses cars dont break loose easily least of all at street legal speeds. Sports chrono keeps psm at bay until much later yet still provides a safety net if things get too far out of shape especially if you are not on a track and not familiar. Sure, you may personally be familiar like many other trained long term 911 owners on how this P car behaves so can do the drift easier with psm off. OP asked for advice so is obviously not 911 trained based on his thread. I dont want to be offering advice for him to go out swith off psm and then toast his car on my say so. Ive seen this happen on a track with someone with a C4s who was reasonably familiar with a 911's handling (and with training) who switched off the psm and hit the wall toasting his car pretty badly so im not offering advice like that to someone i have no idea how good he is at managing a 911 turbo at high speed cornering. Not looking to start a fight with you but one should be careful on the advice they give to strangers.

1.disconnect the traction control .
2.pull the hand break until u hear the first click
and I will be free to go ;p

+1 on that. But hey he has some super quick bimmers that would do that job better already. Its that damn 911 thats got him stuck...

When i go to the canyons i do them all in sports chrono with PSM on and when i am going at it the back comes out quite a bit on some turns. its so much fun

When drifting lowspeed tho i do it psm off and just do little powerslides when making left or right turns at intersections hahaha
if you trying to learn, I would suggest to you to find on a rainy day an open empty parking lot perhaps at night near stadium or park.
On the wet surface you are not abusing as much your car and the tires, plus you can control drift much longer..try to use the handbrake it helps a lot in drifting.

wash the car thoroughly. apply two coats of high quality carnauba wax.
smile over the shine. Take a drive on a Sunday afternoon to your favourite drive
spot. Enjoy your afternoon. Drive safely. park your car in your garage. admire your
porsche 911. continue this regiment for many years. you deserve to keep your hard earned investment.

That is very good advise, thank you.
