New MB SLS driven at the track impressions
Well, had a chance to drive all the AMG cars at Spring MT Ranch near Vegas. I was invited to the track day held/sponsored by MB Canada (Free accommodation at the Bellagio, Free Food, Free Transportation, and Free Track Day - how could I say "No"?)
In my opinion (as a very moderately skilled driver), the SLS AMG was the best on the track. It seemed a bit better balanced than our 997TT, and the NA engine (6.2 560+hp) was very responsive. Nonetheless, although the SLS is pretty "cool" with those gullwing doors, I don't think it looks very pretty. At least with the SLS, I was able to keep up with the instructor in the lead car lol.
All the other cars I drove, I felt like a complete fool because I was always falling behind hahaha...
The next best on the track in descending order were:
C63 (not bad at all for a small 4d sedan)
E63 (new one is much improved over the W211)
SL63 (top down fun)
CLS63 (dated chassis)
S63 (a luxury sedan at the track - not pretty)
SLK55 (sloppy sloppy sloppy)
ML63 (the Cayenne Turbo is leagues above as I experienced at the Porsche World Roadshow in Mosport Raceway).
AMG cars are NOT track cars. All I could do was brake and accelerate and that made me feel like a very very poor driver lol
. I couldn't find the apexes and never had confidence in any of the AMG cars except for the SLS.
Porsche - there is no subsitute!

Not my cup of tea. Going by the direction MB's taken with their latest design themes i cant see myself ever in one....ewwk! Someones head needs to roll over there imo. Panamera never looked so beautifull. P has nothing to worry about with that car after seeing this.
