Methanol is toxic and care should be taken when handling but it is NOT considered a carcinogen by OSHA, NIOSHA, and CA Prop 65 (this is also stated in the msds you linked to). Whether it is truly a mutagen, that's debatable. You can turn almost any chemical into a mutagen/carcinogen in laboratory setting when you expose them to mega amounts of the stuff. That fact that it is not listed as a carcinogen by OSHA, NIOSHA and CA prop 65 is proof of that. If you spill some on your hands, you're not going to go blind or get cancer but will evidently sting you at -40C. Not trying to be difficult here, just want to dispel any myths.

It depends on your definition of corrosive. Strictly speaking, methanol is not considered a corrosive agent. Strong acids are considered corrosive. Next time a shipment of methanol comes in take a look at the DOT classification. It is classified as 3 (flammable) not 8 (corrosive). It even says this in the msds you linked to. I put 5 gallons of VP MS109 in my car today. The car has FVD Flash and their catless exhaust. I was some what disappointed with the flash because the power increase was not that noticeable like people said here. With race gas , I have to say the car runs alot smoother and pulls alot harder. I think it made more noticeable power than flash and exhaust. I LOVE RACE GAS, but it's so expensive run regularly.
Totally non-scientific butt dyno feels more power by mixing 50-50 octane 100 and 91
I'm in California so best I can get is 91 with 10% ethanol crap. Found a 76 station relatively close by that has 100 octane race gas. Not sure or care if it really is 100 - it's enough that when I mix 50-50, I can "feel" it
If its just placebo and all in my head - still a pretty cheap "mod"

Where in California are you? I've been searching for 100 octane and I can't find it (I live in Orange County).Originally Posted by mozhacker

Thanks
Buy some VR and mix C16 with 93. It is clean and less expensive.
I used this list I found here on 6speed showing 100 octane locations. Not sure if it's still accurate but the first one I went to in Pasadena had 100. **Edit - filled up again, had price wrongbefore: it's $8.99/ gallon for Union 76 station in Pasadena
I run Sunoco 100 octane 24/7 in my GT2, also run the 100 octane tune from GIAC.
Being in Cali we are stuck with 91 craptane. Only a few stations in San Diego sell VR 100. My flash is a Softronic set for 91 but it does hold higher bar (about .1 more) when I mix 91 and 100 50/50.
I wish I could get 100 for $7/gal here its more like $11/gal. I switched to E85 in the summer and run 93 in the winter. Needless to say two different fuel too totally different cars. It's too bad for the E70 switch in the winter.
