NY/NJ insurance - HELP!!!

hey guys, so my car should be 2 - 3 weeks away and now i've just been hit with a $10,400 insurance quote for the year from progressive... i'm freaking out basically...

geico, all state, liberty mutual, state farm - none of them will touch the car.

i'm 28 years old and single with 2 speeding tickets and 1 careless driving in the last 4 years.

i'll be purchasing the car outright - does anyone have any suggestions of who to call!??!

the car would be garaged in NYC and driven lightly... thank you!!!

That's freaking nuts. Only suggestion I can provide is keep calling other companies (e.g., Geico, Allstate, State Farm etc). Those two tix plus your age can't be great for rates.

Also, think about taking out a multi peril (e.g. car+ condo or home coverage).

For once, I feel happy about being mid 40's, balding, "slightly round," and pretty conservative in my driving habits ...

When I was your age and had similar run ins with the radar jockeys...my rates were sky high too...but never that high. Although I couldn't quite affordt a 911TT at the time!

Try to find someone in Morris County NJ and use their address for the insurance. Even if you had to change your address and license to a NJ license it should be worth it. I have State Farm and with great coverage I pay about $1,800 a year in Morris County.

$1600 for six months in Bakersfield California, which is over priced for Cali. That was from Geico where I have my DD insured for $92 a month.

Being under age 30 and having a spotty driving record have unfortunately screwed you regardless of the insurance provider. You could always carry liability only and throw your saved dollars into an emergency car repair fund.

Just throwing a thought out there… How about having your parents put it on their policy and add you as a driver? Not sure if this is possible due to your age, record, and different address but it's an idea...

That's !!

Lived in Manhattan for years. Never once thought about owning a Porsche there. I can understand why insurance companies would be so resistant.
