Clutch Issue

Anyone have a problem with the clutch pedal suddenly dropping down to about the half-way point with reduced free play? This happened yesterday and I dropped it off at the dealer who said they haven't seen this before. I had to fully depress the pedal literally to the floor to disengage the clutch and the pedal resistance was dramatically reduced.
There was no slippage just a mushy feel and reduced pedal travel.
I will update the forum when I get an answer from the tech today---I hope today.

Sounds like the classic slave/accumulator problem. We are just discussing this in another thread: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...07-turbos.html

Just got a call from the service dept. There was no fluid in the clutch reservoir and they have no idea where it went. There is no sign of leakage. They needed me to approve a $200 clutch fluid flush which is recommended at 2 years , which my car is, an 08 and then if they find out that the problem is due to a defect the repair will be covered by warranty but not the flush.
I have not seen any sign of leakage so I can't imagine where the fluid has gone. Pisses me off that I have to pay anything when there is obviously something wrong that is going to be covered by the warranty. I

You should not have to pay a dime if your car is under warranty and they should cover the cost.

DON'T PAY ANYTHING!! Take it to another dealership if you have to. When I had that problem the first time, my car also had no sign of leakage but the reservoir was empty. My dealer replaced the slave cylinder under warranty. The tech told me that the fluid leaked back into the main system because of the defective slave.

Find another dealer! You shouldn't have to pay anything because it's a WELL KNOWN WARRANTY ISSUE.

I wouldn't say it's common but it is a well known problem.

That is some serious BS!! They obviously don't care about your business. Find another dealer to go to.

if the dealer has not seen this yet he is the only dealer on the planet who has not. Ive had this occur, missing pentosin, clutch all f-ed up. No visible leak. Its a well documented problem...DO NOT PAY A DIME. Escalate this issue, print this out and hand it to him. I can even fax you over my dealer docs for reference if needed, just PM me.

Hitting you up for fluid is a bit mean. I agree with the other guys, take it elsewhere. This dealer is insulting you asking for money. If they cant figure out where the fluid went to then they are incompetant. Every dealer should know about this common problem by now.

Defective slave cylinder was the problem. Fixed under warranty and no charge for the fluid.
Thanks everyone for the ammunition in case I needed it.

Good, I had a 07 Z06 that had some needle bearings go bad and they fixed it under warranty and when I picked up the car they wanted to charge me for the oil change. After talking to my service write he realized that they would not be able to fix it without an oil change. Sometimes they just don't put cause and effect together.

Did you notice the clutch going bad or did it come on all at once. Did your clutch start to feel soft. I wonder if the defective slave cylinder damaged your clutch when it went bad.
