TPMS OEM vs Others

Hello all,

I am seriously considering aftermarket wheel options and it appears that many of our vendors are offereing Porsche compatible TPMS with the wheels. I would like to use OEM but they are almost twice the cost of OEM compatible.

For those with aftermarket wheel experience, am I playing with fire by getting none Porsche TPMS? I was curious if OEM compatibles were equally reliable etc. I've heard of Beru but are there other brands that are of OEM quality? I would hate to get new set of wheels and tires, only to unmount them and install new ones...

Thank you!

Bro,
When you remove your OEM wheels, they take out the TPMS units from them and install them on your new wheels. Simple.

Thanks but I was hoping to not go through the trouble of unmounting them as some folks want wheels/tires/tpms as direct bolt-on. But, agreed, taking them off would probably be the safest option assuming the aftermarket wheel accepts Porche OEM

i've got a similar issue - but was planning to disable the tpms on the PCM.

can you post links to the units you were thinking about?

One vendor above. Tire rack also carries them for similar price. I am not sure what my vendor will use but I intend to find out before he uses some cheap no name...

I am sure most of us knew already but a nice video on resetting TCM:
