2011 911 Turbo S launch control video
Glad I did this tonight. But it's really a "so what?" experience and beats up the car.
Never again: "Been there... done that."
Got new tires the next day (see photo below).
The Bridgestone RE 050A's that came with the car were shot (after four days of DE= about 200 miles of track laps).
I switched to RE11's.
With new tires, I then drove from Wyoming to Laguna Seca, via Yosemite!... and tracked the car there September 10 and 12.
That killed my brakes, which are being replaced at 7000 miles (300 track, including charging the apex of 8A at Laguna with full braking to freak-out the BMW M5 that wouldn't let me pass for most of a lap. His arm was sure out and waving at the bottom of the corkscrew, 8B and he was six cars back into 9... a quarter block behind at 10 and a half-block behind at turn 11.
This car runs like a scalded dog!
Nuts with (just) the acceleration of this car. As the instructor said as he told me to charge the apex of 8A as we passed 7, "You have the brakes of God. This car is designed to stop in three seconds from 200mph on the autobahn. Believe in them and use them!"
(fortunately, all I have to replace now is the pads-at$500 total- not the rotors as well! That would be $12,000/set)
Launch control stats:
0-60 in apx 3 seconds (GPS in on-board cameras didn't immediately register motion)
0-116 in 11 or 12 seconds
