Will you wait for the next gen. Turbo?
The current TTS makes an excellent case as one of the greatest supercars ever made. Despite the fact that I've modded my car exactly to my tastes, it is the first P-car that is calling my name.
0-60, overall power and sophistication, reduced AWD 'feel' and superb quality and fit/finish make it a package that no other (well, there's that GT2 RS thingie) car can really match.
It's actually so shocking how much speed the thing produces that whatever they figure out in the 991 is more likely to be on the efficiency side rather than the pure performance side (just my opinion but it seems like they're running in to some basic physics problems in getting power to the ground).
So if I was in a buying mode, I would leap at the chance to get a TTS (again, unless I could get my hands on a GT2 RS) where the greatest challenge would be dealing with their endless options list. Should the 991 TTS show up with a bit more power, I will have had the satisfaction in knowing that I'd had a few extra years of smiles having driven the 997.2 TTS.

The S is such a hoot to drive anytime
i have a 2009 997tt cab and i love it every day i dont car at all that the 997.2's are rolling around i love what i bought and what i have at the moment. Sure i would love pdk but ill wait until my next car. I plan on keeping my car until the 991 turbo comes out and will trade mine for a lease on the new one.
I could see porsche making the next 911 a lot lighter, like they did with the new cayenne. What if the new 991 dropped 250 lbs!
The difference this time is they finally released a car that's putting smiles on a lot of people's faces bone stock. I'm not sure I care what they're going to do with the 991 as I would/will be perfectly content with the new "S" regardless. Porsche is in an interesting position now that this car performs so well. As I said in another thread, "Gone are the days of small incremental changes that wet your whistle, and leave you wanting, for the next incremental changes." These "S"s are very satisfying and capable.
Indeed, and they will do something, but I'd still be happy with the new "S" regardless. I wonder if by shedding the weight it would make it harder to connect this much power/torque to the ground though... That's one of the amazing things about the new "S". There will be a limit where physics do come into play and overall balance becomes an issue. No doubt this iteration of the "S" will go down in history for doing a lot of things right.
I went through what you are going through a few months ago. I was at my dealer and they had a few Turbo S Porsches in stock. I thought long and hard about buying one of them. I finally came to my senses and kept mine. The big difference is I have a 997 Turbo already that I spent a lot of money getting just the way I want. Over $40,000.00 in factory options before the mods and additions. If you are just upgrading then I would say wait. If this is your first then find a good used one that somebody else has already taken the big hit on and go for it. When the 99? comes out then upgrade.
