2007 turbo with a crack in windshield following road trip. Took to local installer recommended by dealer. Ordered OEM glass and took 3 tries to get right. The windshield would not seat properly. Ordered new windshield thinking defective-same problem. Installer said perhaps problem with frame? Never wrecked or spun-could it be slightly torqued from aggressive driving at track?

 

maybe try a different installer...

 

They almost always farm that job out to firms the specialize in window replacement. Had it done to my TT and it came out perfect.

 

No way you going to twist the frame driving hard.

Be really careful with windshield replacement. We always search out for the best shops/mods/mechanics to do work on our cars, yet will allow almost anyone to install a windshield.

Saw a show years ago that investsigated what can happen when a car is in an accident and had it's windshield replaced incorrectly. Really scary. It can be catastrophic. The windshield is an integral part of the car's structure. Mishandling it, wrong adhesive etc. can be very dangerous.

The guys who seemed to be the worst were the mobile repair guys.

 

thanks guys. Had owner of company(glass) with Porsche dealership mechanics overseeing/assisting install(with difficulty) what appears to be a nice cosmetic and hopefully, sound windshield. What a pain in the *** for what I thought was an easy fix. Give me an oil leak next time. Damn.

 

I had the windshield guys come to my home and do it in 1 hr.....as I watched of course. It was a one man job and was flawless but since insurance covers it INSIST on the OEM windshield not AutoLite's......that might be your issue.

I helped place it down and was quite simple.
