Test drive -- things to look for?
Test drive -- things to look for?
As I mentioned in my welcome thread I'm looking at picking up a 997TT. This will be my first Porsche and is there anything while during the test drive that I should be looking for/listening for on the drive?
I'm taking her out tomorrow morning, pretty excited. Hopefully this time next week she'll be coming home with me.
It's a 07 with 7,000 miles, 6spd for 92K
Thanks!

I've heard of the PPI before, I already asked for the DME but what is the paint meter reading?
I'm buying it from a Porsche dealership and it is CPO'd, should I still get a PPI?

A paint meter is a device that can determine the thickness a car's automotive paint. A panel that has been refinished will ALWAYS have a thicker level - it is impossible to replicate the factory thickness. A paint reading that shows refinished panels suggest either body damage or a previous collision.
Most body shops or detailers will have the device.

For a vehicle to be CPO'd, Porsche requires a specific inspection to be performed - contact PCNA to find out exactly what it includes, and ask the dealership to share the info with you. In addition, check with PCNA to make sure the dealership you are purchasing from has not had problems with CPO'ing vehicles...there are a few member here that "thought" they had CPO when in fact PCNA knew nothing about it.

Good lord....what an amazing drive.
Took the turbo out onto the highway and dealer told me to punch it, the power is absolutely insane.
Hopefully by this weekend I'll be bringing her home

Actually it's not CPO'd right now because it's on consignment so they haven't done that process.
I told them before I do anything I would want to make sure it can be. The guy said he'll send over the DME, carfax and CPO paperwork before I make an offer.
They wouldn't let me test drive the one I did want because of it being on consignment but I drove another 07 with only 6,000 miles on it.
One other thing that kind of concerns me and maybe I'm paranoid is the KBB is 98 but they're only asking 92 for it. Just a good deal, someone wants to offload it?
