Who can identify this part?

I was under the car trying to figure out where the metallic rattle was coming from on startup (turns out it was my left exhaust tip I think) and I noticed that the item in the picture looks like it has oil leaking out of it.
It is on the driver's side just behind the exhaust.
Can someone tell me what it is and if it needs attention? thanks

It looks like your seals are slowly leaking. Part numbers.

It maybe leaking from that torx bolt . Try turn that bolt lose with your hand and see if it's lose.
If it's lose then you will need some sealant like locktite 574 on the thread then torque it back to 7 ft/lb

thanks guys. I'll check the torx bolt. If it's fine would this be something covered by warranty?

Should be a seal and a warranty item.

Surprisingly, the bolt was easily loosened by just my fingers. I retightened it and we'll see what happens. I'll have Porsche look at it in the spring when I get the oil changed.

Thanks for the info guys.

samilar thing happened to me when I picked up the car earlier this year. I have tightened mine back and it's been dry. If you lose it more, you will see oil coming out. I would wipe the area clean though.

I guess it's almost time to put the car to bed for the winter? I have maybe 2-3 weeks to go, then I will clean her up and put her away.

Good call. I'd rep you again but the system won't allow me. Better get in those few final runs for the year!

Yea, gotta drive it a bit more before i put it away. Still have 15 gallons of ms109 left, gotta burn that off Unlike you guys in cali which gets warm and sunny weather all year around. Here in B.C we get rain straight from October to May.

8 mos of straight rain would be tough to take but I guess where you are everything is green, including the stop signs. We could use some rain right now, it's pushing 110 today in some areas of L.A. Maybe you'll get a few dry days in between.

110 F, That's warm. The car won't be happy though. I have noticed the car pulls alot harder in the cooler weather we get here even on 1:2 race/pump mix.

I've got my first track day coming up in 2 weeks and then it'll probably be sleepy time for the car for the winter. I'm just too cheap to spend 300 bucks for a tankful of race gas, I'll just put the money towards the newfangled extruded turbos...mmmmmmm turbos.

I'll clean off the dirty oil and see that it doesn't leak again too.

at least get 5 gallons of ms109 and mix it with a full tank of gas. You will feel the difference and safer to run too. lol

I was thinking of doing that so I could try the race tune although Todd did suggest just trying it with 94octane too just for giggles. He said that timing would be pulled but no biggie.

Just learned that I can buy a catless pipe from AWE to go between the muffler and turbo so I might just spend the money there and see what difference that makes.
