First Porsche, What upgrades?

I just purchased a used 997.1 turbo and I'm curious as to what everyone suggests as the first upgrades to get the most out of this awesome car?

Exhaust is the obvious first choice upgrade followed by springs/sways.

Congrats on the new ride! May depend on what you plan to do with the car...track, etc... I do agree that exhaust would be high on the list to start with. Post some pics if you can too. BTW... you'll quickly become addicted to this site if not already. Lots of valuable information even if you don't mod. For example... info on batteries, home link, why the key doesn't work after 7 idle days, etc...probably all in the manual but in here too. Enjoy!

depends on what you do with the car, do you like to track it or have you ever been? if its more of a drive around town and look good, wheels looks mods etc are good along with a short shifter.

go fast mods, Exhaust that frees up the congested stock and quiet exhaust so the turbos can spool faster and make more power without being pulled up.

a flash is a aftermarket tune on the car changes the fuel/timing/boost maps more boost more power essentially, gains of 50whp from a flash and exhaust is pretty easily obtained.

Congrats on your new car. First, I think you should tell the group what you want to accomplish so they can advise accordingly. If you plan on tracking the car AND have a great street car I personally would focus first on safety mods. Brakes ( fluid, pads ), tires, then think about seat/harness, then i would look at suspension ( I reccommend TPC as a great resourse with great products ). The stock car has tons of power so if you plan on tracking it suspension upgrade will be the biggest impact. That of course is second to good instruction and lots of seat time. If purely increase in HP is your goal then a ecu flash is probably the first upgrade? Personally, I would encourage you to take your car to a road track and experience your car the way it was meant to be driven...it is truly addictive and more fun than anything you can image. Agree, this is a great site with lot's of knowledgable people, but get ready for differing opinions...the more clear you can articulate your objectives/questions the better responses you will get!!! Good luck and enjoy.

700HP power package/ stage 4 (ECU&TCU reflash, muffler, manifold, VTG, intercooler, throttle body). Around 20K, you never regret it.
I bought stage by stage, and end up more costly and more visit to the workshop every time upgrade to the next stage.
You'll never have enough power!

Just call TPC. They are great guys, give great and honest advice (they talked me out of a couple mods as a waste of $$), tell them your experience and what your going to use it for.

Definitely do the porsche school too.

Plan the mods carefully, the car has an amazing performance envelope right out of the box.

Softronic flash and exhaust upgrade. Most tuners out there rebrand their ECU flash from Softronic and label it as their own. Certainly a suspension upgrade from TPC - they are good at that.

Don't know why folks recommend PDE - I took the courses including Masters, and can tell you you will learn more about car control and racing (if that is you interest) by attending schools that use formula cars (Skip Barber, Jim Russell, Bob Bondurant, etc).

I really don't have an interest in tracking it. I race Nascar Late Models. My father in law has a ZR1 so I'd to try and get close to his hp numbers but still be streetable and a daily driver.

I like slowly doing upgrades & getting used to the power increases then upgrading again this way you can feel the increases that each mod does or doesn't give ,i just finished my last round with upgraded vgt turbo's & an e85 tune & love it allover again. What color combo did you get how about some pics & btw nice handle name i almost thought it was me for a minute lol.
