Wheel Spacers

All..

I like the look of 20" wheels on the Turbo cab but given the quality of the roads where we live, 19" is the most I am comfortable with. Wanted to add spacers to my car to make it look a little more agressive (and 20" like) - and visually fill the wheel well more. The front is OK right now but wondering what size members have installed (F & R) to improve the look of the car - without affecting (negatively) performance. Pictures would be a real asset if not to much trouble.

Thank you.

I would recommend a 5mm up front and 15mm in the rear. That will give you that nice flush look and still leave ample room for fender clearance.

For my 997.2 C2S, I had 7s in the front and 14s in the rear and I thought it was a great look with the 19in Turbo wheels. 5/7 and 14/15 are perfect for the 997 OEM 19in fitments. I don't have any more pics (not have the car anymore - different story there ), but I hope these help:

I use 7mm front (19x8.5) and 15mm rear (19x11) on the stock 19" turbo wheel.

For my GT2 wheels, I use 7mm front (19x8.5) and 7mm rear (19x12).

Both these setups bring the wheels pretty flush with the fender lip.

Let me add one more thing about spacers: make sure whatever size spacer you use, get the proper length bolts.

Most people say the stock bolt is OK for a 5mm spacer but anything thicker has to have a longer bolt...but it can't be too long.

Once, I mistakenly put one of the bolts for my 15mm spacers on with a 7mm spacer and it touched something in the hub and locked the wheel from moving.

I have narrow body GT3 wheels, OEM, got 7mm in front and 25mm in rear, this makes it more aggressive the way you want it to look.

Ruf turbo is correct about the length of the bolts

You most definitely want hub-centric spacers and I've seen some cheap sets on eBay that aren't. And you want them from a reputable (name that you recognize) manufacturer.

Stay away from steel and go with aircraft quality aluminum.

I went with the RSS spacers because they are well made and I could get them in black with matching black bolts that are the proper length for the appropriate spacer. Oh, and RSS also supplies a locating pin with each pair of spacers that helps when mounting a wheel and is absolutely essential if you have PCCB's.

There is no substitute for having the correct offset rims that don't require spacers to fill the guards. There are some awesome aftermarket rim offerings (Champion, HRE, Tech 1) available...to name a few, that take the stock centre caps and tpms. Taking wheels off and on that have spacers requires a lot of care too. Its far too easy to slip up and take the paint off the calipers....especially if you ever have anyone taking your rims on or off (dealer WS's inc). Not advocating not to use them....i used them myself at one stage....just that there are better options .

Don't spacers reduce the effective spring rate-ie effectively make the suspension "softer"?Ok,the effect might be small, but perhaps not completely insignificant in the case of a 15mm spacer. Can any expert say by how many percent the effective spring rate is reduced with the addition of a 15mm spacer on the rear?

Here are some pics of them on my car I used 15's in the rear and 7's up front looks great on the stock wheel setup. We also include bolts when we sell them.
