I am not familiar with either but have you considered getting the car CPO'ed by Porsche. I bought the car private with 3k miles but took it to local dealer and got CPO'ed which extended my warranty 2 yrs beyond factory fora total of almost 6 yrs. I believe it was around $1500 + fee. Good luck!

I had an Easy Care policy on my 996TT and it was amazing. They covered everything! The warranty was transferable and the subsequent owner filed a clain for an engine replacement which was covered. My Easy Care policy paid for itself 3-fold. I would definitely buy another. Call another dealer as they all price them differently. Interestingly my buddy just purchased a 3 year plan with Easy Care on a 2003 996TT for $5000 with $100 deductible. Car was out of warranty.

Price is certainly a factor but as you've searched so is finding out which provider/s your local shops/dealers will work with. I purchased a 4yr/75k warranty from EasyCare from a local P-dealer in Houston but did so before my factory warranty was up. When the same warranty/policy is purchased after the factory warranty has expired the price was double. I think that may be one of the reasons why you were quoted a higher rate.

I'm not familiar with Fidelity Platinum so I can't comment on that option.

In Houston the dealers and independent shops take EasyCare so it made my decision easier.

That's weird because when I got my ec warranty a few yrs back, they would not sell directly to the consumer

I, personally, never buy extended warranties. You're basically hedging that you are going to have a catastrophic failure that may or may not be covered. Most aftermarket warranties don't cove **** and are generally a ripoff.
With a gt1, a warranty is less important than on a wet sump engine, the thing is bulletproof.

Yeah..funny story (joke is on me) I purchased a wheel insurance plan so I would get wheel replacements if needed knowing that a 19" wheel in NYC is asking for catastrophy and luck have so far wheels are good except I stupidly curbed my wheel pulling out of the garage one morning..just a minor abrasion actually..extremely minor..any way I figured ok next service I will replace the wheel...but the stipulation of the contract reads must be "damaged beyond repair" in a road incident...so unless the wheels are totally wiped out I get NOTHING.

The key to buying extended warranties is (1) Do it before the factory warranty expires and (2) Do it before the 25k mi mark. If not your looking at 2x the cost. Both these companies are reputable and are excepted at Porsche dealerships. My particular dealership uses Fidelity so I purchased a 3 year/36k miles ext. warranty (Platinum/$100 deductable) just before hitting 25k mile mark with 6 months left on the factory warranty. In essence it is really a 2.5 year warranty but at half the cost of getting a full 3 years after the factory warranty expires OR your milage goes past the 25k mile mark. Confusing, yes but I paid about $2600 for it as opposed to $5400. Its a game and its a crap shoot that favors the insurance company but what you are really paying for is a peace of mind. These cars are reliable but IF they break they cost a small fortune to fix. At $5400 though I would not have considered it and would of put the money towards mods. This brings up another point..... How modified is your car? Exhaust and suspension are not a problem but an engine flash might be an issue. You need to really look into this before purchasing these contracts. Either way enjoy your car. Porsches are meant to be driven!
