997.2 TT vs 991
997.2 TT vs 991
anyone else wrestling with the question of ordering some of the last 997.2 TT or just waiting to see what the 991 will bring?
the 991 turbo likely won't be out until Q4 of 2012 based on what i read. so if you pass now, it will be something like 18 months to get a new one.
The new one will likely be more efficient, but those only materialize on the hwy cruise! around town i am sure it will still be thristy when driven hard.
this final iteration of the 997 TT model is pretty amazing and most of the parts are tested and true, so long life is more predicatable.

I thought about that before I got my 997.2 TT last year. It came down to a few factors 1. I didn't want to wait that long.
2. I love the way the 997.2 TT looks, but I won't know about the 991 until it comes out.
3. There seems to be quick a jump in performance with the pdk, I doubt how much better it will be with the 991.

If you buy one now you get to enjoy for two maybe three years. So you don't know all details of the new model it might not be as hot as built up to be. If it is I am sure some smart pre-owned car buyers will get some great deals on some 997.2 models.
That's what us gotta have best newest updated buyers are for to make sure you guys get great deals. Glad to do my part

Im sure if I took my 08' turbo to the dealer come 3-6 months after the 991 is released; they would bend over for us to get into a new one.. These cars hold their value very well; so just think of your 997.1or.2 as a down payment toward the new one in a couple years
At the crazy low prices these guys pay for new P cars you wouldn't even think about it for one second... least of all feel the changeover $.
Fancy waiting around
. it goes without saying the new one is going to be 100% better. Has it ever been any different?
hoppity - i agree the 997.2 version really does look good.
speed - in Canada they rolled the prices back to 2008 levels for 2011. if our $ craps out, they will have to raise the sticker again, so funny enough, it is possible they are "steal" up here right now!
if the new Cab's have more rear room maybe the back seats won't have that reverse incline

I'll help you..wired my money today on a brand new Turbo S. Buy now, wait later. Besides, who wants the first gen 991... Likely bugs and other new design issues. The 997.2 is matur design and 0-60 in under 3 seconds won't be appreciably improved upon.
Hi Jeff,
Congrats! Funny, I did the same thing about 4 hours ago
Your's sure looks nice!
I agree on the 991. Let them work the bugs out first... The 997 is well established.

If it's hot could be long wait and premium to get one if not then why do you want it? Either way, best not to wait.
Bought mine a year ago thinking at the time that it could easily be up to a 4 year wait.

I learned [the hard way] a long, long time ago, to never, ever, buy a first year model. Given current trends I'm even more convinced that's a good idea.
We got our 2011tt thinking the exact same thing. The engine has a couple years on it development wise and the 911 platform is pretty well developed at this point. I for sure wouldn't wait for a first year model that could be as much as 4 years out.
