If the thin line above the top arrow is filled-in, you have too much oil.

Yes - buy a new/clean siphon at the auto parts store. I've done it this way.

RT-TURBO is infamous around these parts
I'd call the dealer ask them to flatbed it back to their shop and make it right because if something goes wrong you've "caused it" by any action you've taken. If they're reluctant (I'm sure) to do this insist they fax or email you a statement that it's OK to drive it back to their shop for correction. It's time we get good service for the bucks they charge. If you can't get anywhere with them call Porsche NA, the number is in your owners manual an dtell them whats going on. Just my $.02

If the segments are filled in up to the top line,
the oil level has reached the maximum mark.
Under no circumstances add engine oil.
7. If the bottom segment is filled in, the oil level
has reached the minimum mark.
Add engine oil immediately.
8. If the bottom segment flashes, the oil level has
dropped to below the minimum mark.
Add engine oil immediately.
The difference between the minimum and
maximum marks on the segment display is
approx. 1.3 quarts (1.25 litres).
One segment of the display corresponds to a
top-up quantity of approx. 0.42 quarts (0.4 litre).
On the 2008 TT, each segment is .53 quarts for the 3 larger bars. Oil capacity with filter change is 8.5 quarts. Better to under fill than over fill. Even Porsche mechanics can over fill. My mechanic told me, Porsche trained and certified, he was told to put 9 quarts in by Porsche even on Caymans. He overfilled my Cayman S, which was 8.3 quarts to full. I had him drain some out. Now, I always "remind" him of the oil capacity on my TT. He gives me the extra to take home. If the top small bar is lit, you are over filled.

Actually each bar is 0.4 liters (although the manual says "approximately"). Not sure of the metric conversion but I think 0.53 quarts is too high.

This is on page 205 in my manual. .5 liters or .53 quarts. It does say approx., but approx. should be fairly close. I have over 28,000 miles on it. I add about .5 quarts every 2000 miles, once the top large bar is not lit. I check it at every fueling, so I check it weekly. So far, I have yet to light the top small bar. In my Cayman S. Each large bar was .4 quarts as per the manual. Who knows with Porsche, just check the plug interval change for the same engine. lol

08TT has a different maintenance schedule than 07 and 09 - same engine - never could understand that...and dealer is frustrated about it too.

My Indie did this too. He said it was good, but I don't like it too high. So, went to Jiffy Lube and watched them do a VERY COOL trick. Over the bay, they put a shop cloth over my oil fill spout, put their vacuum over that and that actually held all the oil in the car while the tech underneath completely took out the oil plug. Then he said, okay slightly remove the vacuum and drained approximately 1/2 a quart / then put the vacuum back on and it held the oil while he put on a new washer and got the nut tight again. Pretty ingenius and the oil did not even suck up to the shop rag....just held it all in place like your thumb on a straw. Anyway, hard to do at home, but not impossible. Good luck. Why folks think the max mark means almost or close is beyond me.

Me too

I'm usually very careful about adding oil but I recently had the same issue you report. I have had no problems - but I don't think my "overfill" is too extreme.
