Good question. I have an Escort Solo S2 and really like. It certainly doesn't have the range or sensitivity as the V1 as it is a cordless unit but I got no tickets since I purchased it 2 1/2 years ago. I'm sure the new Passport models are great as well as they have even more range and features.

I contacted V1 to ask them why the unit has not changed since the '90's and I was told the internals have been completely redone a few times. Just the outside remains the same. Who know, but I do like the arrows. Very cool feature.

And when they update the guts you can send your existing, registered V1 in and they will upgrade it for a minimal fee. It's the detector you can keep literally forever, and still have the latest.
