My car is showing up at the dealer's inventory

I just went on my dealer's site and saw that the TT-S I ordered is now showing up in the inventory page. I guess it must be getting really close now, it was supposed to be an April build for mid-May delivery. Does anyone know at which stage of production will a car shows up in the dealer's inventory. (I know that incoming cars do show)

Let's hope no one will offer my dealer more money for my car.

Can't wait now.

When I bought my turbo, I signed a contract and down payment when I ordered and spec'd the car. Did you not have to do the same?

My car hit the dealer the same day it hit the port of Houston. Once the car completes production things happen pretty fast.

I wouldn't worry about it. My '08 997TT showed up in my dealers inventory. It is just a matter of how they show the car within the Porsche system. I've purchased over 20 Porsches from this dealer since 1979 so they knew I wasn't going to back out.....still it was in their inventory.

I am actually not concerned at all about someone else buying from the dealer. I can trust my dealer on that.

I am more interested in how fast it will hit the dealer since this is an out-of-town purchase and I need to arrange for baby sitting and days off to fly in to pick up the car.

Just ask the dealer for a status update. If the car in on the water, the dealer will be able to provide you the ship name. Using the ship name, you can look up the arrival date at the San Diego port. Assuming no port delays (my early 2009 was held about 2 months), the car should arrive less than a week after reaching port.

If you call your dealer every few days for a status update, they will eventually get tired of talking to you and just start emailing you the status updates. Ask me how I know.

Once you get the, post some photos, take it to Premier for a wrap and SharkWerks for lots of other stuff.

Yes, I am heading to Premiere right after I take delivery. Pondering if I should do a full Satin or just a full frontal clear bra. Decisions, decisions....

I left a deposit and signed a contract that said if you walk from this "heavy car" you lose deposit. i got my VIN the day it got on the boat. if I were you I would get my VIN e mailed. If someoe offers more on the car you could be out of luck and get a sad story.

Yup, I would be certain to sign a contract just so the dealer won't back put and sell it someone else for more. Seen it happen a few times.

Generally depends on how the car is configured. If it is PTS or some rarer color like Nordic Gold Metallic they will generally make you sign a contract and/or put down a rather large deposit. When I was darting around with getting a turbo last year one dealer wanted $30K down for a PTS color car I was wanting.

If your car is silver, grey, White or black I would be wary.

Must you sign a contract for the deposit for it to be legit?
i had a dealer want 5k over the phone to hold a car..so if I don't sign something its meaningless?
