I went through this in 1986, I just took delivery of a new Targa and then they introduce the Turbo, so I traded in the Targa and got the Turbo. Now I have a 09 C4S and want to get a Turbo. I visited Hennessy Porsche in Atlanta, a Premier dealer, and they said I might be able to find an unsold 2011 or order a 2012 in a few months.
They expect the new generation Turbo to be available one to two years after the new generation non-turbo models. Probably in 2014.
The "itch" just won't go away.
Appreciate your input.
Id wait. It was good advice to buy a "cheap" early 997 turbo for the wait.

I would not wait that long. Life is too short, and none of us know how long. You could be having a blast in an awesome car right now, instead of three or four years. When the time comes, if you feel you have to have the brand newest model, trade. One thing I love about Porsche is their style is timeless, and never gets dated or made obsolete. The body style changes are subtle over the years, and if the car is well taken care of, it's a great car virtually forever. Live for the now, man....live for the now!
