Weird start up issue?

I recently noticed a weird rpm issue when I start my car, it happens randomly but I think it happens more often on hot starts. The rpm normally shoots up to around 2k and dips back down to 1k or lower for hot starts, but it randomly shoots up to 3000ish and then dips back down. I'm not stepping on the gas when I'm starting the car and the car runs fine otherwise. Any ideas?

Sounds normal to me. The idle will leap slightly higher once warm do to the fact that the mechanics internal to the engine and the fluids are up to operating temperature therefor cause less frictional drag.

It has been reported before in this forum (or was it rentech??...).

If I remember correctly, it is related with an rpm sensor which needs to be adjusted as to its distance from the flywheel. Not an easy fix I am afraid, the tranny must be out. I remember the other guy combined the fix with a clutch replacement.

Yah, it's just that it never did it since I bought the car new. Just started doing it recently, 7500 miles on the car.

That is the right thread. I was having the problem too, but I put in a new battery (the old one was original in a 2007) and it has gone away.
