Werks1 Airbox for 997.2TT

I am thinking of getting the Werks1 Airbox, Y-Pipe and Plenum. Then, I read the following thread:

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ade-worth.html
where yrralis1 wrote "I definitely think air flow is improved . They even have to cut a second hole to increase it. Understand that in my case I added the werks 1 with several other mods so I can't attribute the gain to one specific part."

Don't these parts just replace the stock items? Do I really have to make incisions to my car? Anyone using these parts? Any improvement in performance?
Thanks!

Saw this on the Champion website:

"Although it's very different in design from the factory airbox, the Werks1 carbon fiber airbox is designed to install directly to existing mounting points, without any necessary modifications to the vehicle or intake plumbing."

I guess this means not necessary to cut second hole right?

You may want to check out the new CMS CF manifolds also. ~ 12% better airflow than OEM.

Look at this link pages 1,3: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...prototype.html

The blue plastic mounting pieces are replaced with aluminum billet, hard anodized purple (Note the flow improvement on page 3).

i just installed one in a 997.1TT, no cutting or mods needed, but you can widen the holes in the decklid if you want...they provide templates to do it...i didnt since if i ever wanted to remove the werks1 airbox and replace w/ stock the stock snorkles wouldnt fit again...beautiful piece

Agreed 100%. I take delivery of my .2 S in 4 days and after 1000+ miles I am adding the entire CMS power upgrade -http://championmotorsportonline.net/?p=1 . Looking forward to the extra 100 HP++ and a similar kick in Tq. I am doing the street exhaust though - I want to make it a sleeper...then waiting another few months for the clutch upgrade and another boost.

I'm not sure whose intake that is, but 21 hp is VERY optimistic, especially based on that design.

The purpose of the air intake is to provide unobstructed flow of COLD intake air. Our airbox, and even the factory airbox, pressurize while the car is in motion. A cone filter style intake breaks the seal between the decklid and airbox, negating the whole design. They also take hot air from inside the engine bay rather then cooler outside air.

With out airbox, it's not necessary to cut a second whole...the 997TT already has 2! We only send a template in case you want to enlarge the openings.

IMO....if you don't want our airbox because (yes I totally agree) it's expensive....take it from me, just use a drop-in BMC in your FACTORY airbox. That will work better then any cone filter ever can.
