Turbo or Turbo S
Yes, shifting gears is definitely more fun but for the new gen turbo or turbo s the PDK is the perfect tranny for it. As much as I like rowing gears I would never consider getting the the new turbo with manual. The PDK really takes this cars performance to levels I could never achieve on my own (many magazine reviewers felt the same way).
Currently I am torn of whether I should get the GT3 RS or the TTS, I change my mind daily. I only got to drive each of them for a short drive in downtown LA, so no curvy roads or long straigts.
Enjoy your new TTS!!!

PDK doesn't really shine too well when it's a RWD and non-forced induction.
My 458 doesn't really seem that it's best utilizing the power when compared to my Turbo S.
Just for your info, the PDK (or any dual clutches) is VERY helpful when it's a forced induction simply because the boost never dies. Manual transmissions will have the boost die whenever you change gears.
So, for N/A cars, PDK is just a little faster than manuals. But for turbo cars, PDK is a LOT faster so comparing the Panamera to a 911 Turbo will net a totally different story.

BTW. When are you going to give me a ride in that 458 of yours? More and more I see that car, I want one...
On second thought.. Never mind. I might like it too much. I might do something stupid like sell my house or something to buy one..
You are absolutely right about how the PDK puts the power down better than a 6speed on the turbo's. No doubt about that. However, just faster times and speed is not everything for me. The driving experience and driver engagement carries just as much weight for me. I just like my 3rd pedal and the idea of heel and toeing myself. Call me old school..

Anyway, I like cars but I don't treat them like Gods. I drive harsh and give rides to anyone who likes to get one so if you have a chance to meet, then I will surely give you a ride! ;-)
I'm loving my S but you can't go wrong with either. Just a question of sticking (I didn't want) and having PCCB's which I wanted.
I bought a pretty entry level priced S so I'm happy. That seems to be the way to go if you're going S.
I bought this to tide me over to the hopefully released 2014/15 PDK 991 GT3 RS

I totally agree with this. I can not smoothly drive my friends 997.1 TT because there is too much hydraulic interference with the clutch feel and it feels odd. Still much better then the tiptronic tranny though and still very fun.
The GT3RS which I tested shifted wonderfully and the clutch did not feel heavy it felt perfect, and my shifting was very smooth, either driving it hard or easy. Maybe in heavy traffic the clutch would start to be heavy.

Gmoney and zzzspeed couldn't have said it better. I totally agree with you guys. The 997.1 TT's weak spot is the clutch. I still love the car but my next clutch setup will not be OEM, thats for sure.
Ive sourced a non S 2011 with Sport Chrono, TQ vectoring, Dynamic Engine Mounts, PDK, and a few other options but it doesnt have the PCCB's... I dont need the PCCB's...and the deal is pretty strong.
Is the actual HP boost from the S just about the boost (no pun intended) or is there exhaust and intake variances?
I can save close to 35k by doing this... and I can get the tune for cheap if not free.
So the power piece makes the biggest difference. If the tune can get me there or even beyond then Ill get the non S- save the cash and call it a day.

Did you really get a new PDK Turbo at 35k under an S? That would be under $130k with over $20k off list!!!

A lightly optioned S is probably around $160k. But even for $138k as you mentioned, it is still a pretty good deal for a non-S PDK which is almost 10% off.
I am looking to purchase a Turbo/S. Found a Turbo in the color I like. I am torn if I should spend the additional approx. $20,000.00 for a Turbo S
Will I forever regret not to have bought the S
Any considerable power differences in sprited road driving between the the two? Any input appreciated.

My Turbo S dynoed at 475WHP at GIAC's Mustang Dyno that's really conservative.
While that same dyno dynoed a regular Turbo PDK at 420WHP and another one at 400WHP. That's 55~75WHP difference, which is about 70~90 BHP difference. It's a LOT.
Plus, it's NOT expensive the same way a regular Turbo is.
You add PDK, PCCB, Sport Bucket Seats, etc to the regular Turbo, it will add about $20K.
So, the price is actually about the same but you get a lot powerful car.
The answer is.... Turbo S all the way!!!
