'07 997tt Check Engine Light On - "Bank 1 After the Cat" Error

The other day my check engine light popped on while sitting at a light. It wasn't flashing, but read to visit the shop. Yesterday I brought it to the dealer to take a look at and after 2 days of searching they said it was most likely an O2 sensor. I have a Capristo exhaust on my car and they said that it was most likely causing the issue. The advisor said they could change the O2 sensor, but it would not be warranteed nor would it guarantee the problem would be fixed. He said I'd have to put the factory exhaust back on and they could then get a better read on what the issue was and would then be warrenteed. I have had the exhaust for over a year now with no issues. I spoke to the shop that installed it and they are going to take a look. When I asked the advisor what the error was, he said that "bank 1 after the cat" kept coming up as the error? Does any of this make sense to anyone? I am not very mechanically inclined, so any info is greatly appreciated.

i just picked up my car from the sales desk. the service advisor was not there, but the report stated this...

"CUSTOMER STATES CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON: Tech checked and found fault P2270 stored in val. Car has aftermarket exhaust and cats, exhaust show was reprogrammed three times and over revs found ra nge 4. Found plug connections on sensors not swapped. Advised customer not a matter of warranty hard fault shows for O2 sensor bank 1."

I turn on the car and the CEL is now of...WTF. I really confused. Can some translate what their comment means, and why would the light go off?

I'm a bit worried about this now and afraid its not good, but the car does drive normal.

I believe I got the same code on my car also with a Tubi Race Exhuast. But I can remember exactly if it was before or after the cat(sensor) that was throwing the code.

The light most probably will come off again, give it time. I would go with defective O2 sensor. It could be the cats on the AM exhaust as well, but I would definitely go for the O2 sensor first. Dealer is not going to touch exhaust parts when ur exhaust is not stock, that's obvious, I would go to indy shop and have them look at it or start with new O2 sensor and see. Not a biggie tho, you are safe to drive, but the sooner you take care of it the sooner the annoying CEL will shut off.

Just to make sure, it's not 'post cat sensor too rich' right? Get a code reader and if it happens again note code and description....don't rely on dealers notes.

Would a bad cat throw the same check engine code as the o2 sensor? I have a similar issue

So after it came back from the dealer the light cleared and never came back on. I had the shop that put the exhaust take a look also, but they could not find anything as the CEL was off they told me to bring it back if it came back on and was probably just something that through the O2 sensor. Since then I've driven it several hundred miles and still hasn't come back on. Does this sound right...or should I be worried?
