PDK, a loser???
No emotion. And i hear what you say on the speed and, (for some) while driving on a track. But how long have you owned the PDK? And how many days do you spend at the track out of the 365? And how many days are spent crawling in stop start traffic. Too many of those and there are better cars to drive in those lazy environments. Traffic is no place for a 997tt
. Anyway report back after a year or two of ownership once the novelty has worn off and, after the misses has lost interest in driving it. In saying that i also accept there are manual guys and, auto guys. But at one point it may/will dawn on you. Long live the manual
. Thanks Porsche!

. Thanks Porsche! My wife hasn't driven the car yet. She is afraid to ding it as she scraped my underbody on my last Porsche!
I see your points. I've only been a PDK owner for 4 months. I've spent just two days at the track this year so far. But away from the track, I still like it. I like the convenience when I am in heavy traffic. Putting into drive is nice. I just got home from a family vacation in France and did a lot of driving in a manual as that is all they have. In Paris traffic, it was a pain. On the open road, no problem. I still prefer the PDK now.

. And 2 days at the track is better than no days. My count is suffering badly these days too
. Anyway there wouldn't be much to not like about a new turbo S.....excepting that PDK
. But enjoy it while the love is strong
And on the misses...well its funny how it all starts out dandy but the first scape can send them packing
....not such a bad thing in the long term ownership.
Things that you can do with your left foot once you get rid of that 6 sp.
1. Count to five (maybe).
I've had the PDK for 16 months and have driven 12000 mi. Love it more each day. There are so many ways to drive it that unless you have one you can't understand.
For instance, in sport mode you can jab the throttle and cause a downshift with blip from 5 to 2.

I have seen guys forget to put "both feet in" while in a spin on the track and stay in gear and spin the motor backwards only to jack up the motor. Anyone know on a pdk what you do if you spin? I assume like on a egear f430 you would pull both paddles inwards to go into N?
PDK might not be for everyone but there is no denying its the future, much like all of the similar transmissions. Next time around Im going PDK or dual clutch whatever car I end up buying...not sure if I will stay with the Porsche brand.

Its kinda harsh to write off the "PDK" because its only going to improve from here on out. Likely a software update should improve the smoothness from 1-2 or downshifting and lurching, as was common with BMW's SMG. I would think Porsche would figure it out in their next version.
The mastery of heel and toe shifting is what separates the true sports car drivers from the everyday Sunday driver. To be able to smoothly gear down while braking is my goal in becoming a faster driver. I can practice this in everyday driving, along with keeping the car in the power band and concentrating on smooth control at all times.
PDK eliminates the necessity of mastering this most satisfying of all driving experiences, in my opinion.
Is it any wonder that Ferrari has abandoned the elimination of the manual transmission (WTF!!!!!) and is now offering it on the Ferrari California?

I will stay with the 6 speed for the same reasons people prefer boxers over briefs, boxers for me, it's genetic
Now for my cheap shot:
PDK is an evolution of chicktronic...
In the end drive what you enjoy and be thankful you can.

Sorry...had to break up the thread with some humor.
