997.1TT vs 991-S

Just checked into the Porsche USA and built me a 991S with the upgraded sound system and the 7-speed manual. I know it will be a lack of HP to my modded turbo, but my tiptronic is starting to bore me and the 7speed 991 looks tempting... Any opinions? Some one talk me out of this

At least wait for the 991 GT3. If 480hp wasn't enough in your turbo, I doubt 400 will satisfy you.

You mean if 700 plus HP won't satisfy... looking at the thread he has the 775 EVOMS upgrade, which is a serious kit.

IMO, I think you'll love the new look and some of the cool new features, but the first time your smoked by one of your friends who you use to smoke I think you'll have instant regret. IMO, you're not really stepping up, rather the 991S is stepping sideways into a new luxury 911.

I'd keep yours until the new turbo is available.

I agree with others that it will not be an upgrade and would rather wait till the turbo shows up.

I agree with everyone who has posted so far. I know the experience of owning a car is more than just hp, but in my imho you are going ti get bored with the car very soon after delivery. Get a 997.2 GT3 if the tt is not doing it for you. A 991 tt might take a few years to come by...my. 2cents.

Yes the power is there now, and its through a built tiptronic transmission (clutch packs, tcu software and torque converter) I just feel the new 7-speed manual is tempting, especially with a high reving 991-s; I really would love to get into a 991-S as soon as possible and let 2 years pass and hopefully get a 991 Turbo... My 08' Turbo on a trade in should be worth near 991 MSRP + some small monthly payments... Any ideas?

IMO I would keep your 08 turbo. I'm sure those mods weren't cheep and you will take a bath on a trade and a bath when the 991 drives off the lot.

If you could keep the 08 and pick up a lease or buy that would be the only way I would buy it.

But since you can only drive one car at a time you might as well drive the one you want to drive! I guess im not very helpful lol!

A "basic" Carrera will never feel like a turbo. There is no substitute =).

Maybe consider a trade for a lightly used TTS PDK.

I know you want a manual RWD car to play with, keep the turbo and pick up either an e36 m or an e46, either of those will be more fun in many back roads than the turbo and then you still have your "fast" car.
