Replicating the GT2 noise

Hi Guys,

Greetings from the UK! I have recently purchased a 997 Turbo Gen 1 and am very happy with it, apart from the (lack of) noise.

A little while back, i was lucky enough to get to drive a GT2 and loved the barks, whooshes and similar noises it makes. The Turbo makes a few of these noises, but with the volume turned right down!

I was wondering what technical changes have been made? Also, does the GT2 have less soundproofing?

I'll leave you with photos of my car and the GT2 in question

Cheers,
Rob

To OP: The GT2 stock system doesn't sound quite as bad as Bob's Dyson LOL, but nothing spectacular either. The one you heard must have had some after-market system.

Do a search on this forum for "exhaust"; there should be hundreds and hundreds of posts.

IT has less sound proofing and runs more boost than the turbo which is probably what is giving you the sound effect you desire.

It also has a different intake manifold and a titanium exhaust system.

Regard's,

Nick.

add a Europipe exhaust and you will be happy. More turbo whistle, more exhaust noise, in a good way.

I changed my Y-pipe to a Werks carbon unit. It seems the stock one is insulated. Once changed you can really hear the turbos build boost in the cabin. Huge difference!

Anyone done any sound-reduction to reduce tire noise in a 997 GT2? Would love to hear what anyone's done and the results achieved. Thanks in advance.

Our GT2RS and GT2 system carry the same design and mufflers as the 997.1 Turbo only the tip configuration is different.

A proven performer with no drone and great power gains.

There was a movie "The Dilemma" with Kevin James and Vince Vaughn ..about two guys working on synthesized motor sounds for electric vehicles...
How funny.
